His GP originally prescribed a jar of the same product but it was like the texture of goose fat in a jar, but my husband found it a bit difficult to use so I bought him the shower emollient as I thought it would be easier to use in the shower or bath. I think it would be possible to use your hands instead of a flannel, but please be aware, although the product is very good, it makes bath & shower surfaces very,very slippy. **Q: Does this shower emollient smell strongly of paraffin on the skin like the ointment? Thanks** A: Sorry I can't remember the smell. My husband used this for a skin complaint 6 years ago. It can't have been a particularly offensive smell or I think I would have remembered.
