Outdoor Case and Flexible Wall Mount for Nest Cam & Dropcam Pro - 100% Weatherproof - 100% Day & Night Vision - With Heat Sink to Avoid Overheating

I have been using outdoor solutions for Dropcam aka Nest Cam for some time and this the best solution I have come across. It combines a small and cleverly designed weather resistant case AND a wall mount which allows you to alter the angle of your Nest Cam. In the back of the case it contains a soft silicone foam that absorbs the heat from the back of the camera and transmits it to a heat sink (little aluminium part the kind that is often used in computers to prevent them from getting too hot). There is also a small piece of rubber at the cable entry hole that nicely fits around the cable and prevents water from entering the case through the cable opening.The night vision of this product is impeccable – no rings, no glare just the same night vision result you get from the Nest Cam without using the case.Other solution that I used often only come with a case but you can’t angle or move the camera at all. So then the other company force you to also buy their wall mount and you end up paying a lot more.Altogether I am very happy with this solution – great functionality at a competitive price!

The caseThe case itself worked well and the image was not impacted by the case, night vision worked a treat. The heatsink also seems to keep the camera cooled efficiently. I did not test if the case is rainproof. Based on the lack of rubber seals (other than for the cable) and the simple push together front and back I suspected that a prolonged heavy rainstorm would let some water in. (I may be wrong) but that for less direct rain spray it would be fine. My final chosen location for mounting was under an the eaves of the house, while outdoor, it would be under cover from direct rain.The mountIf I had taken it out of the box and installed the mount it in the final location first time I would be writing a glowing review. Unfortunately I was undecided as to where I would install it and tried out many different positions before deciding on the eaves based on my expectation of how rainproof the case was, this seemed the most sheltered place which gave a good view. As repositioned the camera in the different locations the socket became weaker, on the 5th reposition the ball and socket became uselessly loose. I think this may have started because it was being positioned upside down and so was hard to hold the camera into the mount and tighten it while upside down was not easy. I tried to tighten it, I unscrewed it re-screw, loosened, tightened it, however the more I tried the looser it became. When I eventually gave up, came down the ladder and fully inspected it I could see the problem. The tolerance of the joint and the cheap thin metal means that it bends easily and if overtightened (which is easy to do) it is rendered useless.Lesson learnt, you get what you pay for. I have kept the review at 3 stars because, overall with the case and the mount at that price it is a real bargain however, be very careful with it when you are installing and do not expect to be able to reposition it many times. Mount it, position it and leave it.

This case works. For the most part. As others have said, there are issues with glare at night from the case edges, and a noticeable 'circle' on the image. (The bottom right is a windowsill, top right and left are the case) and note the circle on the image.I don't think this is unique to this case though, all case brands seem to display some artifact.The case doesn't have any rubber seal on the main body though, so I've put black electrical tape around this for my peace of mind.That said water does get in around the cable, despite the manufacturers attempt at a rubber seal here.Neither issue is a problem if you know about it though. I've used some silicon sealant around the cable which you can buy in black if desired. This completely seals it and is easy to remove if I ever need to get back into the case.Overall it performs as expected for a cheap case. It's not perfect, but if you know the problems they're easy and cheap to fix during installation.It's certainly sufficient, compared to the option of replacing the camera with the outdoor version.However, if you haven't bought the camera yet, and intend to use it outdoors, now that a waterproof outdoor version is available I'd recommend buying that from the outset.

I bought the black outdoor case and I'm satisfied with the product. It includes the case as well as a sturdy wall mount. The case is just the right size for my Nest cam and it does what the seller claims. As I said, the wall mount is included in the delivery and it allows you to angle the camera in all directions. The heat sink in the back works great. I bought cases from other companies in the past and it lead to my cameras overheating in a matter of weeks. The heat sinks works effectively. The night vision works well too - however, you need to make sure that the camera is correctly positioned inside the case. If the camera is properly inserted you get close to perfect night vision. good product at a reasonable price.

Super Gehäuse, schneller Versand! Würde das Gehäuse jederzeit wieder kaufen. Nur die Schrauben zur Befestigung könnten besser sein. Aber sie sind ok.
