Q: can only one outlet be used. does the other have to be blanked off?

Hi David, Inside each outlet is a valve that opens and closes to the time that you programme. The valve will only open to let water pass at the scheduled time it has been programmed to do so, for the desired frequency you have set. Should you need to open one of the valves to water outside of the pre-set programmes without interrupting them, there is a manual override button which lets you manual water from either outlet. Q: Does this use standard hozelock / uk connections or are they american as mentioned in 1 star review. Ie is it plug and play with my hozelock kit.

Hi James, it is not plug and play from the box. A £1 adapter from b&q solves the problem. I use plug and play and screw on my orbit without any problem, I use channel 1 to drip feed my baskets early morning and use channel 2 on a normal hosepipe for a top up if it gets to hot. Hope this helps Phil

Yes you can - reducing couplings for any size of conversion are available at most good garden centres.
