The lip is included in the 2U height, so essentially the shelf space isn't 2U in height as the overall shelf (with the lip) fits in a 2U section. I have devices both above and below my shelf and it fits perfectly. **Q: can you please explain what cantilever means on the unit. thank you** A: The definition of cantilever is that it is a fixed at only one end. It was cheaper than alternatives and I knew it was a 2U shelf I wanted, but it seems very few people make 2U shelves at the shorter depth for a comms cab - especially at the price I wanted to pay! I'm pleased to say with some careful angle grinding/cutting I was able to get the perfect fitment and am very pleased.
