This is the reason I'm thinking of getting a new one.** A: Oiginally I thought that this trash can would not take 13 gallon bags. Tried a few times with no luck. Then tried again, stretching the edge of the bag a little and it fit. Snug, but worked! **Q: and HOW do you attach the lid?** A: The lid is a little difficult to attach. The cross bar fits into the sides, but it takes a little strength to force it in. It is hard to explain, but you should be able to see how it fits on each side. Just use a little force to fit it into the 2 holes. Fit it into one hole first and use a little pressure to get it into the other hole. **Q: Where do you get "special" 13 gallon bags for this ?? the standard (hefty, glad etc) drawstring bags do not stretch around the top.** A: I get mine from the $ store. It has a built in hard plastic ring that comes down to secure the trash bag into place. This is simply awesome. My cat can't get into it and has so far not been able to tip it over. (she's working on it). It seals in the odors too. Its a nice, large capacity that fits the 30 gallon bag perfectly. Its great that while this can is filling up I don't have to look at the garbage or smell it either. I recommend this to anybody. Buy different colors for your recycling. Very well made and durable product. It looks nice too. I bought the silver or grey color and even though its a large can, it does not look obtrusive in the kitchen. However, if you are looking for one of those sturdy ones, better get a fully metal can. This one has the open/close mechanism also made of plastic and it does not look that it is going to last long, although there are just mostly two of us and we are aware of the situation so it may work for us.
