VTech 168853 "DigiGo Electronic Toy

My 5 year old really wanted one of these for her birthday. Her 3 year old brother got one for Christmas and she'd been asking for one ever since. Wasn't sure at first because previously when we've had vtech tablets and older versions of the innotab, we found them to be really slow. But I was pleasantly surprised with this. She loves how she can "text" us. Games and videos are expensive, but I got a really good deal on the vouchers so they worked out really cheap. Can also use the same games on both of our digigo's, so that saves a lot of money. Really impressed, great buy!

Do not buy this! Purchased in October for a Christmas present. The vtech learning lodge has been down for security reasons until this week so my daughter has not been able to use this until yesterday. It worked fine for an hour or so and then turned itself off and now won't go back on (it is fully charged). Looking at the vtech Facebook page this seems to be a common problem but vtech are not providing any support. I cannot return this to Amazon as the returns window is closed as we've had it for so long even though it's been in the box until this week! Vtech are not being very helpful either so I am left with a very disappointed little girl (who was already disappointed at not being able to use it at Christmas) who wanted to be able to message her daddy while he's away at work for four weeks at a time, not to mention a useless Digigo that we cannot get our money back on or a replacement.

it is a good phone but it glitches a lot and the price is way too much anyways my children love it

Saw some bad reviews about this toy but my daughter really wants one for christmas. So I've taken the plunge and got her one.Arrived quickly from the seller and well packaged.Wanted to setup the device before christmas and to have a look at it as well. I had to damage the inside of the box slightly to get it out, but the exterior is untouched and to a 6 year old would look untouched and new.So I plugged it into the computer (lead comes with it) and installed the software and set up an account (free to do) to manage the device. I then downloaded the app from the google play store onto my phone and logged in to it. Took me about 10 minutes to do this whilst waiting for various emails to come back from vtech in order to set the account up but its pretty straightforward.Started up the software on the PC first and it found the device straight away. Transferred all the free apps across which was easy to do. Noticed that it also had a file transfer for items on my PC. Which should make putting her favorite music and films easy enough.I then went to set up the device itself and wanted to try the text thing out. Found the settings and got into the parent controls easy enough. Found my wifi and connected straight away. Tried to fire up the text app only to be told that it wasn't setup in vtech learning lobby. Logged into that on my PC and found that by going into my account and managing the devices i had an option to active it.This then enabled the device to start sending text messages to my phone. So it works and works well. It does what you want.Overall it took about 1hr to set up from start to finish. Creating accounts, updates to the device and transferring stuff across on to it.Camera is okay, kids will think its great. Video camera the same. They are easy to use. Games and books are good and should keep her entertained.Vtech site is working and I had no issues. Haven't bought anything from it but looks plenty of choice. The free stuff was transferred hassle free and I put my own music and films onto it which played back on its screen and looked good. Christmas morning will be its real bench test but for those wondering the device is working now as it should and the site that many people said was down is now finally fixed and its up and running.would have given it 5 stars expect i had to put the wifi key in twice before it finally saved it and would automatically pick up the wifi signal and it is expensive.People have said that the device is slow. It is slow, you have to wait a few seconds for an app to load. About 10 seconds being the longest so far. But then this is not Iphone or a samsung I dont know what people really expect forthe price.

Probably as good as it claims but the website hasw been closed since I bought this. No downloading is possible.

Cannot use at moment at v tech have closed learning lodge app until the security breach is fixed. Also had trouble as device would not turn on despite fully charged. Had to push the tiny reset button on back to bring to life. Hopefully can give more stars once apps can be downloaded as device is useless until then.

Bought as a gift for my 6 year old niece. She seems delighted with it and I haven’t heard any stories about difficulty with set up - she was happily using it by Christmas afternoon.

Bought this for my 6 year old daughter as it was the main present on her Christmas list. Awful product very very disappointed with it especially for the cost. You have to download the app to your phone to receive messages, which is fine, if you can get on the app to start with. Warning if you already have a vtech account for any other previous toys you need to know the password etc or else you cannot use! Even if you request to reset password you are left with an error message and can't go any further. The website is useless.The product itself is also awful - it takes ages to do anything as it constantly loads.Thinking this was a good alternative to a mobile phone for messaging in the house I was very wrong. Take my advice and by a cheap tablet or mobile and download a messaging app!
