After 5/10 minutes I then put the drops on. It is excellent & done this way the nails stay good for ages. Ok it takes time but it is worth it to get a really good look. Settle down, wine to hand, tv on, & away you go! Hope that helps. **Q: Does this effect the top coat in any way (will it thin it out to not last as long)?** A: I cannot say that I have noticed any change in how long it lasts **Q: Does this work with matte polishes?
