Absolutely brilliant version even though it's 1980's quality. The best Kamen Rider that has ever been created. Deserve 10 stars instead of maximum 5 stars

The Masked Rider returns...1980s style
Kamen Rider has been a staple TV show in Japan for decades, but only in recent years has it become commonly available in the United States. So, what's it all about? The hero is a human-grasshopper cyborg who rides a motorcycle and battles other cyborgs -- typically, minions of an evil secret society.Every 1-2 seasons, Kamen Rider is rebooted with a new star and a slightly modified backstory. Among the many versions of this odd franchise -- which are still coming out today -- "Kamen Rider Black" is generally considered one of the best, if not the all-time #1. I'm hardly an expert on the subject, but I've dipped into several seasons, and I have to agree that this is probably the best (along with the 1971 original version).Of course, you're probably a fan and already know all this. Want you really want to know is: how's this fancy new Blu-ray release? Pretty good, I think. The picture quality is respectable for a 1980s show, and certainly improved over the episodes available on YouTube. The special features are decent, too. Among other things, you get a lengthy video essay on the show's production history; some trailers for this season and its immediate sequel; and a round-table discussion featuring members of the cast and crew, which has a casual and fun vibe.As for the show itself: it's good, clean escapism. Although it's sometimes described as the "dark" or "gritty" version of Kamen Rider, I do think it's essentially for children, since it's full of silly scenes and juvenile characters. This is not a problem for me, however; I watch this kind of thing for light entertainment, and I appreciate the gentler side of it. For a genuinely dark spin on Kamen Rider, check out the recent "Kamen Rider Black Sun" -- which is just as violent and grim as you would expect, from a gritty reboot of some old kids' show. This is not to say that "Kamen Rider Black" is entirely unsophisticated. It has interesting plot threads, and some pretty effective horror moments. I also genuinely like the show's makeup and special effects, which are often better than BBC effects of the period (but not quite up to Star Trek standards).Just don't go into this expecting a sci-fi masterpiece. It's more of a cool, fun show, and all the better for it.

80s Tokusatsu is the Best
This series is one of my favorites in the Tokusatsu genre, with music that fits the shows atmosphere, epic fights with practical effects, and some of the best monster suits worn by suited actors.

An amazing series so far, lots of action, suspense, horror, and thrills. A definite must watch for any Tokusatsu fans, and a great recommendation for anyone who wants to jump into the franchise
