Well built, Clear optics
I've had this product for a few days. Its great at what it does, comes with a little carry case and optics are very clear. However there are two small issues. The eye cup for me is not that comfortable, and doesn't have a cover: a cover would be helpful if you leave it on the camera body, especially in the vertical position.I also keep catching the top lens with my eye lashes, which is quite annoying. However for a macro photographer its does the job: One thing to consider though. I use a Sigma ring flash for much of my work.. anyone with a bigger head than I have may end up not being able to see through the viewfinder when vertical, with the flash unit in place (also a hammer head type flash unit would cause same issue). I can just about get away with it; looking at the product pictures you'd think it would stick away from the body enough- when mounted on Canon 5d MK2.Finally when removing from the camera I keep leaving part of it behind which is getting very annoying. If you can live with these small issues and can afford the extra cost of buying the Canon brand item, then I think you will not regret buying this item.

A must for low level macro photography
If you're into macro photography, particularly that of low level plants or fungi then this is a must. No need to strain muscles in your next to see through the viewfinder. Has a useful option to switch to higher magnification for checking focus accuracy. It somes complete with adaptors to fit most of the current range of Canon digital SLRs. I use it with both the 5D and 40D.

Gone are the stiff neck, bad back and sore knees
Whether you are photographing ground-dwelling beetles or stars at their zenith you need an angle finder. Remove the camera's rubber eyecup, slide on the device and a new - pain-free - experience awaits. In fact, it gives you a new perspective on your photography and I find that I want to use it even if I don't need to. The magnification is switchable between 1.25x and 2.5x (with the higher mag you only see the central part of the viewfinder image) and it is a great advantage in those situations where focussing is critical. My only (minor) gripe is the huge shift in angle finder focus that is needed when you change the mag; a parfocal arrangement would have been nicer but perhaps that is not possible.Note that because the angle finder magnifies what you see in the viewfinder, before attaching the angle finder you should first of all ensure that the dioptre adjustment in the camera's viewfinder is correctly set for your eye.I can't advise as to whether you should buy the Canon angle finder rather than a generic. All I can say is that it is extremely well made, the optics seem flawless and, as two adapters are included, it fits all Canan EOS cameras so if you upgrade your camera the angle finder will still be suitable.

Not very impressed
I bought this for use when the camera is mounted low on a tripod and using the viewfinder conventionally is difficult or even impossible if it's over water for example. Well, unless you get your swimsuit on. For that task, it's ok. Just ok.The problem lies with the fact that at its normal setting it's not 1:1, it's 1.25 so you don't see the whole frame, and as the 5D mk II doesn't have a 100% viewfinder as it is, you see even less of the frame. Now, the 2.5x setting would prove useful for checking focus were it not that it's impossible to use. You only have to move your eye the tiniest amount and the image falls into a dark circle - in fact getting the right view of the image at this magnification is incredibly tricky and a strain on the eye. It's not helped by the rubber eye cup which is far too shallow.I will keep it for now for the initial reason I bought it - for shooting down low - but I will eventually buy a field monitor instead. If you're in the market for one of these just get a cheaper Opteka version as I'm sure it'll perform just as well if this is anything to go by, plus the normal position on the Opteka is 1:1 and is a 3rd of the price. Go figure.

Does what it says on the tin
This is an invaluble tool which I use for both landscapes and for macro photography. There are cheaper copies out there but I have played with them and they are cheap for a reason - nothing I have seen has ever come close to the build quality of Canons own brand. The unit is supplied with 2 different mounting eye pieces so that it will pretty much fit most Canon models and this is all kept tidy and dust free in a supplied wallet / fabric case. The actual unit feature 2 different magnification levels 1.25x and 2.5x the 1.25x being the whole viwefinder and for everyday use and the 2.5x increasing the magnification and centering on the central area of the viewfinder - great for macro shots and cheacking overall sharpness. The viewing arm rotates in a 360 degree arc with a click stop at every 45 degrees.I toyed for ages with getting one of these handy little units - my only regret being that I did not buy it sooner - would have saved my back ache.Super unit and a reasonable price (Amazon where the cheapest around). You will not be dissapointed with the vesatility and build quality of this unit.Go and buy one - you know you want too :-)

Low down photography and side working - changed my life and perspective of the world
This is a fantastic product !It fits both a Canon 5D and 5DSOpening the box the weight and build show a very good product worth investing in.The 1.25 and 2.5x - unless you own this product be careful with other reviews: the 1.25x DOES show all of the camera information. The actual view is a circle (the same as binoculars) - you can rotate this (but not angle tilt) therefore rotated you can view from the side should the back of the camera be backed against a wall and can no longer stand behind it.Lovely if you have a tilt and shift and want some perspectives from seriously hard to view angles !My advice would be if you struggle with binoculars then the eyecup will take a while to find the sweet spot for viewing, but don't give up.
