The year was 1942. One day, family man Gunnar Johansson found the courage to resign from the bus company and give free rein to the contractor inside him. Thanks to our own factories in Sweden and Hungary, as well as the close cooperation with our partners in China. Our products also undergo extensive third-party testing in order to be the safest on the market. Behind everything was a longing for something new. The year was 1942. Battery information incorrect at time of posting this review. -Does NOT take AA’s. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 30 October 2018* Firstly I was so impressed with this item last year that I bought another as a gift. They really are quite mesmerisingly beautiful and really put you in a Christmassy mood. I felt 5 years old again! In fact, to be honest, I’d rather watch this for an hour or two than all the dross masquerading as ‘entertainment’ which inevitably features on our TV screens over the festive season! You also have the assurance of knowing that because it’s made in Germany it won’t have fallen apart or stopped working by the time the festive season is over. My partner, saw mine and equally enchanted, bought a couple for his friends also. A few weeks ago I bought a couple more and went to purchase batteries to insert in each lamp before giving to the recipients in time for Christmas. Trouble is that the listing information is incorrect. Please note that the batteries required are larger than stated, i.e. 3 x C 1.5 V -which may be more expensive also. Having now opened a multi pack of AA’s I bought for the purpose, I won’t be permitted a refund from the store I purchased them, which is frustrating. Obviously either the listing info, or the product design has changed since last year. Don’t be disappointed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Christmas carol lattern *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 13 October 2025* Really pleased with my Christmas lantern heavy and well made much better than I expected for the price would definitely recommend this item.
