Clarity and detail… and a great quality build
I previously had a Bose Wavemaster II system which was 10 years old. The build quality of the Bose compared to Ruark is huge. As soon as you You open the box The Ruark screams quality… its weighty and beautifully made. The connections on the front and rear are very well presented and not the flimsy rubbish that Bose use.The Ruark reminds me of the Arcam, Meridan, B&W system I had 22 years ago. The sound is very clear.. Once you disable the 3D sound (works best with TV audio) the system presents a great level of detail… the more a play the more I hear new sounds and textures revealing themselves in CDs I have owned for many years. For reference I played Fink, Pinkfloyd, Underworld, Steven Wilson, Tyler Swift and Marillion… thus far. Both CD and Bluetooth are 1st rate and DAB radio sounds great. The only point I would make is watch the dial on top of the device… I had to take my TV unit apart to get it in place… but it has been with it and have no qualms recommending this as a replacement hifi for those who have limited space.

Review of a Ruark R4 Mk3
I wanted a HiFi unit to replace an ageing nineties tower unit but smaller to match the smaller house we now have. I was surprised by the 30W per channel output and clarity of sound and bass for what looks like an old sixties radio. The woofer is in the base of the unit and plays into the table top, that the unit stands on. In all I'm pleased with my purchase, albeit it's on the expensive side at £656.00 inclusive of delivery. What I like:> compact size> sound> very easy to set up>bluetooth connectivity (it acts as a stereo output speaker to an incoming signal via bluetooth from say, an IPad, PC or tablet)> radio aerial (telescopic aerial that fits to the rear of the unit via an F plug and gives good stereo radio reception in my area - south west)What I don't like:> no WiFi connectivity> appearance (looks like an old sixties radio)> no remote eject of a CD> remote control is very basic> appearance

Stopped working after a couple of days
Bought this for a second time and even though i had to return the first due to a loose socket i decided to give this product another go and after coming back from holiday and using it it died after a couple of days. It says that the return window is closed and i could be left with a semi expensive pile of junk that is of no use to anybody in its current condition. Don't waste your time and money...

Very difficult to eject cd's
problem ejecting cd's - phoned for advice told to to give firm but quick tap on eject button - did not work! contacted them again and was quoted £90 plus delivery charge to fix it. not a happy bunny should have kept to my first choice of a Bowes system.

Nice but could be better
Sound is excellent with all genre of music . Very nice appearance . However it is nort perfect my main problems being1 Streaming - frequent breaks of 3 - 20 seconds . I do not have this problem with my other units ( including Ruark R2)2 Shuffle - On CD will often repeat tracks . With a memory stick it will not shuffle within a selected folder (As R2 DOES) but shuffles through all filesI realise these are not big deficiencies but IMO could have been better sorted by RuarkAs stated nice but could be better

QUITE SUPERB
This is quite simply everything anyone could ever want in a hi-fi system. Fabulous appearance and build quality, simple to use and with a sound that is flawless. I love classical music, rock and pop and all sound great with this hifi. Having decent bass is always important when listening to rock music and this system really delivers. Superb.

Pointed in Ruark direction...
Wow - love this! A review of a rival product pointed me in Ruark's direction, saying the Ruark unit did the same things so much better. So glad I followed that pointer. Been busy last few days rediscovering old CDs and marvelling at sounds I never picked out before. Also played stuff on my smartphone via Bluetooth connection and flicked through DAB radio stations. The sound is superb in each case. It's a heavy unit with a quality feel - and so it should be at the price. Reminds me of Leak and Wharfedale products I had way back in 60's. There's more than the 2 speakers you can see. There's a tweeter and bass speaker on the underside - the unit stands on little 'ski-runnner' feet to allow a sound gap. Only slight criticism is that if you want to tweak bass and treble settings they are in a sub-menu rather than up-front so to speak but to be honest I haven't needed to mess with it - the Ruark does it's job superbly.

Skepsis ade!
Was soll ich sagen?

Feines Design, satter Sound!

Empfehlenswert!
