Symptoms: The water tank mechanism would active every now and then to let in a little bit of water to top up the tank, and when done, it would make this sudden, harsh, explosive screeching sound. Fix: Remove the flush valve assembly from the water tank by gently twisting it anti-clockwise. It's held in place in its seat in the tank by two protruding plastic pins. Then you twist the bottom part with 6 sharp protruding pins anti-clockwise to remove it from the piston cylinder thingy, and that enables you to get to and replace the two washers. It took some googling, but eventually I found these washers which seemed to be the sizes I needed. Just take note of their orientation as shown on the diagram inside the packaging envelope, replace the washers, and install the flush valve assembly back into the tank, and boom! problem solved.
