Top piece of kit.
I bought this item to attach to the exterior of my rucksack principally as a container for a jet boil cooking system not as a bottle holder. As such I am very impressed by the items fixtures and fittings and build quality. As always with maxpedition gear it is very well made and it seems that it has gone through a design process which has led to it's being able to be used for numerous purposes. The contents of the pouch are well protected and insulated whatever its intended use. Loads of great attachment points are fitted and also a shoulder sling is included for independant use should this be required. Jet boil cooker fits in on top of small items in bottom with room to store items on top in the holder cap. Nice pouch on the front of the holder can contain a well provisioned brew kit and strapping for items like knife fork and spoon or torch etc. Superb.

Very good item, I have bought two of these, the 10x4 and the 12x5 both superb quality and made to last.

VERY GOOD (but expensive)
I have the 5" Maxpedition bottle holder as part of a modular system based around a Maxpedition Condor II backpack (see pictures) and it takes a 1 litre stainless steel Nalgene bottle very well (which is quite wide). If you have a standard drinks bottle the 4" holder will be fine. The outer pocket is a decent size and will easily carry t-bags, condiments, fire lighting kit etc. or a compact survival kit / 4" sectional stove.Construction is flawless throughout and the quality of fittings on Maxpedition gear is second to none but this is an expensive bit of kit - worth it? Yes if you care about quality and owning gear which will not let you down but I think for the price it could come with a couple of tac-ties to allow you to fit it securely to your pack without spending any extra cash.Do not rule out buying second hand as you have to be really brutal to damage Maxpedition gear and plenty is always available 'with light use'.
