If that hadn’t have helped he would very reluctantly have considered further investigation or possibly surgery! I have a long history of sinus problems with surgery since age of 11 ! I am now 66 and the surgeon didn’t think he would achieve much with further surgery ! Otovent certainly helped - quite uncomfortable on first use but with practice it got easier and less painful. My 5 year old granddaughter had just been prescribed Otovent by her GP and that prompted me to ask the surgeon! **Q: Probably a daft question, but do you simply attach balloon to plastic thing and inflate via nostril?** A: Yes hold over one nostril breath in through mouth and steadily out into balloon. With practice hold the balloon inflated and try and swallow. Can be a bit uncomfortable to start with but helped clear up my eustacian tube blockage and deafness. It was recommended to me by my ENT consultant. **Q: How many balloons in this pack?** A: I believe there were two balloons in the original pack that I bought. They last a fair time but quite pricey for spare balloons , I have a 5 pack but I think they were quite expensive. It works though! Recommended by an ENT consultant for my 6 year old granddaughter and then I asked my ENT consultant when I had trouble recovering my hearing after a holiday flight that descended to fast!! I've been congested with phlegm and whatnot for around 5/6 weeks, it's holding on as best it can apparently, around 2 days ago I heard something internally on my left side but wasn't sure what, thought nothing of it, my wife then started talking to me and I realised I couldn't hear her at all on my left side. After some research, it was likely Glue Ear from all the congestion. Spent the next 2 days totally deaf in my left ear, clicking my fingers both sides of my head, I could hear something but barely, as if I had noise cancelling headphones in. Finally growing sick of the loss of hearing and balance struggles, I bought this fully doubting it would do anything. It's just a balloon, right? Wrong. Watched a YouTube video for how to best use it and gave it a go. First and 2nd try across both nostrils didn't do anything... Frustration started immediately, figured I'd just give it 5 minutes of trying and see what happened, 3rd try and I made myself jump, almighty pop (actually thought I'd burst my eardrum it was so loud) followed by crackling and fizzing for a solid 30-60 seconds, then suddenly felt a stream of liquid running down my throat, my wife then asked if I was ok and it made me jump again cause she was LOUD in my left ear! Instant change. I would strongly recommend sitting down to do this because when it goes, you will feel very, very dizzy and lightheaded as the pressure equalises and all the fluid starts moving messing with your sense of balance. If you feel like your underwater in one or both ears, or you cannot hear as well as you think you should be, buy it, be gentle, have patience and keep trying!
