Review: No frills Superb photo printer - for colour - I bought this to replace my dead Epson Stylus R2880 after 16 years of use. I have an Epson ER 2850 printer, scanner, copper, so I wanted a dedicated photo printer. This is stripped to the bare bones: no LCD menu system, no duplex printing and is dye colour rather than pigment. However, as I'm not concerned with archival permanence, the less expensive dye inks and eco tank system got my vote. Using its Standard print setting is more than acceptable for up to A4 size on glossy. It comes into its own printing A3+ on semi-gloss at High setting. Superb, vibrant results. The Epson Print Layout app is fantastic. You have to look for it as it isn't included in the set up or e-documents. This is a great printer. I think the price is inflated because Epson make little profit from the eco tank inks. BUT, this uncomplicated printer produces great results. I've seen some reviews where it's B&W performance is criticised: I have not tried B&W. It has only one black ink, so I suspect that its B&W performance is not stellar. Set up: DO NOT use the phone app, which is truly appalling. Go to Epson website and download the installer from there. Set up is then a breeze for WiFi. If you want to use the USB cable, then install again as a separate printer. Simple as that. I do hope this is helpful
Review: Amazing print quality - Having had Epson and HP printers over the years, when it came down to Colour I went for Epson once again after my XP-960 6 Colour Machine finally gave up, and this machine has again not disappointed, now using Ink tanks makes the hole process effortless and cost effective. Instructions are very easy to follow when installing initially you have to use a smart phone having download the app using the QR code printed on the paperwork. Patience and take you time and follow the instructions on the app to the letter and all should turn out as it should. Remember to use the Epson Photo + software when printing onto Plastic ID Cards and CD's. Its Magic when the tray finally opens and you see a perfectly printed borderless card, outstanding print quality. Yes I have seen some reviews where people have had issues but often that is user error. To this date I have never had any issues with Epson and will continue to use these amazing machines for all my Colour Works.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good prints
*by M***S on 15 May 2026*

Prints are great and is economical with the ink. Used extensively for a school with few issues. It looses a star because when it does have an issue you have to look up in the manual for what order of button pressing you need to do to sort it.
