## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where is it made?**
A: It is made in the USA. Works great!

**Q: how do you release the stretchers when yur done stretching wire? I have to beat the latch open with my hammmer. does anyone know an easier way?**
A: To begin with you need to make sure all the levers and pivot points work freely. I had to remove excess paint from several places to make the levers and pivots work freely, a little oil or WD-40 on the pivot pins will help (not on the wire clamping area). Two ways to release tension: Viewing the tensioner from the side with the levers. With the ratchet handle in the 2 O'clock position apply pressure as if you were going to tension the wire but only enough that the locking paw (above the right wire clamping arm) can be raised above the rack. Slowly move the ratchet handle to your left allowing tension to be released. When the ratchet handle nears the 12 O'clock position release the locking paw allowing it to reengage with the rack. Repeat as necessary to release tension one click at at time by raising the paw on the ratchet handle and return the handle to the 2 O'clock position. The second method releases all tension at once. Apply pressure to the ratchet handle but only enough that the locking paw above the right wire clamping arm can be raised. Fully raise the locking pay (it will rotate over center and the spring will retain it in the fully released position. Slowly move the ratchet handle to your left. When the ratchet handle nears the 10 O'clock position it will release the paw from the rail and all tension will be released. I have used this tool many dozen times now. If yours is like mine you have a great tool that came with no instructions.

**Q: Will this work on twisted wire approximately 1/4" in diameter, i.e. guy wire used on telephone poles?**
A: I used mine on guy wires on data towers that were a twisted wire rope. Worked just fine. The wire on telephone and power poles are bigger than a 1/4" and high strength. You usually have to use a guy wire grip and a chain hoist to tension those.

**Q: Can not get it to go back after cranked all the way up. Help**
A: You need to flip the pawl, which engages the notches, down so that it no longer engages the notches, you will probably need to crank the handle slightly to release the tension so that you can do so. Then the handle needs to be "cranked" forward (as if you are stretching something) while in this position you can be slide it all the way open, with the pawl out of the way. Hope this makes sense. Good Luck.
