I've tried to weigh it, I get the base as approx 3.3kg & the lid as 2.6kg.

A: Yes it can be used as a frying pan and the same rule applies, when the pan is hot enough place the meat in and leave it until it forms a "crust" it shouldn't stick doing it this way

**Q: Will it withstand the temperature of a wood fired oven?**
A: It should do. The cast iron can withstand a 220 degree in electric oven. Try on lower temp if you can then build up.
