The PL2303 is tucked away nicely in the DB9 connector. Sadly, I'm not going to tear this one to pieces to check the wire gauge, but with moderate usage it should last a while.It does come with a driver cd, but I submitted that to the File 13. I generally recommend the prolific drivers for older windows and OSX installs.
