Bought to replace the stock fan for my trusty old FX6300 because I fancied a bit of peace and quiet. It's not silent, no fan ever is, but it's much quieter at a lower pitch than the stock fan so now I've got no more than a background hum which I struggle to pick out once the window's open and it's competing with the everyday noises of suburbia. I'd rate it 5* on that alone but it's also brought the unexpected bonus of being much better at cooling the CPU. With the stock cooler I was averaging around 40-45 degrees resting, rising to 65-70 degrees or even higher under heavy load. This has brought those temperatures down 10-15 degrees. Before when I pushed the PC the fan whirred furiously and desperately like the whole box was about to melt down. Now it purrs a little and maybe tops out at 52 or 53 degrees if I really push it. A bargain.

After replacing the stock CPU cooler I'd had for years I saw a 21 degree C drop in CPU temperature, when performing the same task. The sort of work I do means I usually use one core over a sustained period and this kept things under 50 C with a sustained load (previously peaking at 71).It's also quiet. Not silent, but the 'quality' of the sound it makes is both quieter and more pleasing than the drone from my previous cooler.I use a 'T' variant core i5 which is a low power consumption model, so this may not be suitable for heavy workloads on multiple cores or overclocking, but for my workstation this is a steal.

This fan is noisier than the one it replaced so would not recommended it, sorry.
