I like the length of this mat because I can lay on my unaffected side and wrap this mat vertically around my bad hip and leg (there is a velcro belt like feature that helps you wrap or secure this more tightly around your body. I like that it is so warm and soothing and automatically shuts off in 20 minutes. It did take a bit of experimentation to figure out the right light settings that felt good and provided just enough heat and relief. I did find that after using this steadily for a few weeks that I was able to fall asleep quickly and not wake up several times in the night due to pain and discomfort.
