It did a great job protecting a plywood double door i made at the bottom of our garden that separates the lawn from the rose bushes at the very back. **Q: would this take on a bench previously treated with hardwood sealer oil?** A: Sorry we don't have a decorative product that will paint on top of oil **Q: Is it better to be used with a roller or a brush?** A: I used the product on garden tables and chairs.
