Bajadera Nougat Dessert, 500g (6 pack) total 3000g By Egourmet

Having parents from Croatia and Serbia my brother and I grew up with Kras's Bajadera chocolate-nougat. During my youth these could only be obtained when someone brought them back from a trip to Yugoslavia so they were always a very special treat when then could be had. The presentation of the product, both they box and each beautifully wrapped piece, make it a beautiful gift to present someone with just a piece of gold or brown ribbon for wrapping. Now, as for the taste of the candy itself, it will obviously be a very subjective matter depending upon what one is used to. They are, of course, sweet however compared with other candy they on more smooth on the palette then some super sweet chocolates which, sometimes, are so sweet you sort of pucker before you swallow. The nougat filling of the Bajadera seems to have a hint of some liqueur in it though I don't know if they contain any alcohol. I have given some to a friend who is Italian and he didn't think much of them and, other friends who have been raised on only American chocolates, did not notice the subtly of this delicious sweet.

Bajadera is a favorite dessert of three generations in our families. After reading customer reviews, I accepted a gamble to maybe end up with subpar quality product and with a hassle of returning it. I will assume that the seller is highly reliable and that it wasn't just luck in my case: the two boxes we opened so far (one was gobbled up at my husband's workplace) were filled with fresh Bajaderas tasting like the ones we buy in Croatia whenever we visit there. I will be definitely buying more for my family, and as gifts for friends.

I discovered this chocolate in Croatia. I'm so glad I found this online. The price is excellent and comparable in price to buying in Croatia. I’ve bought this twice!!

These did not melt in my mouth like the ones you buy in Croatia. Similar flavor, but seemed waxy. Maybe it's a different formula in order for them to be shipped?

Too sweet. Nit as expected, definitely not like any nougat I have had before. Its just super sweet hazelnut flavired chocolate

Friends brought a small box of these nougats from Croatia and I absolutely fell in love with it. There weren't a lot of places that sold these, and I took a chance to buy some online. The texture is absolutely gross - it kind of feels like chalk. I remember the box from Croatia being soft and rich on the tongue, but it seems like these were stored in wrong temperature. There are "air bubbles" or pockets on the top and bottom chocolates that make it look disgusting, and it is so brittle because there is no moisture in them at all. I should not have ordered these, and now I'm stuck with 4 packs of trash.

These chocolates arrived very quickly and are DELICIOUS. I bought them to give as gifts, but am afraid they may not make it out the door.
