Review: Best in price range - I am a cheapass birdwatcher. I bought this for one purpose--to get better views of a bald eagle nest across a river (I don't have an exact distance but Google Maps estimates it at 1000ft). It does a good job for the price, with a few caveats that are mostly related to my lack of experience with digiscoping (photos/video from a camera strapped to an eyepiece). tl;dr You'll need a real tripod for birdwatching, and the 75x is not as useful as 50x for various reasons. Also, ditch the phone adapter and get a clamp-on eyepiece camera. Compared to virtually anything else in this price range, the optics on this scope are astoundingly good. The scope has a variable zoom ring that lets you pick a magnification between 25 and 75 (my binoculars max out at 8). At 25 the images are fairly bright and clear, but from 50 onwards there is significant color bleeding on anything white. This would be true of virtually any other simple scope without corrective ED glass or similar, so I can't really count this as a fault. In my case the sweet spot appears to be just around 50x. (The 8x image in the attached photos is from an iPhone aimed through binoculars, the other photos are from the SC002 eyepiece camera attached to the SV28 scope.) Another related issue that doesn't have anything to do with this particular scope, is that you're going to need a sturdy tripod to use this in the field at all. The small tripod included with the scope wasn't useful to me. I trialed the cheapest tripods I could find on desertcart, and even though they work okay, there's no getting around that even a light breeze will cause your scope to wobble erratically, and this is made vastly worse at higher magnification. Again, this is not an issue with the scope, but a general problem with digiscoping. The tripod will end up being bulkier and heavier than the scope, so expect to make room for it in your travel kit. The focus knob is okay at lower magnifications, but it is not very precise at 75x. You might not notice this until you try to focus a camera through the eyepiece. Finally, the package comes with a universal phone mount so you can hopefully position your phone's camera lens over the eyepiece. All I can say about this is, don't bother. There are many products identical to this and they all deliver a horrible experience. Even if you manage to get your camera positioned correctly, now you cannot focus your scope, change a setting on your phone, or even activate the shutter without physically touching something, which puts the combination of scope, camera, and tripod into wobble-o-rama mode. There are various solutions you can try, but the one I eventually went with was to get the SVBONY SC002 Wifi eyepiece camera, which you can now get in a bundle with the scope. This turns the camera setup from an agonizing ordeal into a 10-second twist-on procedure and lets you control the camera remotely from your phone. Whatever its deficiencies, it has made digiscoping fun again. I've also tried using this scope on targets that were not quite so distant, around 30-40 ft away, with the conclusion that 25x is simply too much magnification at short distances. I can get maybe the bird's head or its feet into view, but not both. It's a bit of a pickle, but you just can't have everything.
Review: Good scope - Excellent clarity, example at dusk, 450m, 75x magnification

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good scope
*by J***O on August 18, 2026*

Excellent clarity, example at dusk, 450m, 75x magnification

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Affordable with decent quality
*by S***. on May 16, 2024*

Magnification power is spot on, focus is a little touchy, clarity and image quality are better than expected for price range, size is on par with other similar powered scopes, performance is above average. Packaged securely, carry bag included. The cellphone adapter requires a little patience to get centered correctly. After mounting it works as intended. The tripod is a joke, glad for aftermarket. Zoomed in a top of pine tree about 3 football fields away. Could clearly see the color variation on pine needles, plus the peeling of bark on the tree. Sunshade pulls out around front lens. Eyepiece adjusts in/out for eye relief. Neither one is smooth, both feel cheap. Focus knob is little touchy and seems slightly grainy, knob feels cheap. Magnification is smooth but should have a larger range of adjustment, too short for precise adjustment. Diopter adjusts too easily, should be a little resistance in turning. Image acquisition is easy, provided you replace the tripod with something better. So after all those quirks, I still recommend this scope. For the money you can't beat it unless you spend at least 3x the price. For what it does it is worth it.
