Review: Makes Baking Sourdough So Easy - I highly recommend these bread slings. They work very well for transferring dough in and out of hot Dutch ovens. It can sometimes seem like there is a LOT of equipment to get when you want to get into sourdough baking. But these are worth it. (Remember NOT to touch the sling with your bear hand when it comes out of the oven.) I recommend these over parchment paper, which I find can rip. I use both the round and oval slings regularly. I put a sling in top of the proofing basket and flip the basket over to get the dough onto the sling. Then I lower it into a Dutch oven. (You can use a cold Dutch oven or a warm one - I’ve gotten comparable results.) One possible downside that I didn’t think about: a sling that is too thick could keep the Dutch oven lid from snuggly fitting. These seem to work fine though. See the pictures for some of my results, including a nice oven spring.

These are way better for my sourdough baking instead of parchment paper. These fit perfectly in my respective Dutch ovens. I simply place one on top of my cold-proofed dough in the banneton. Flip it over and voila! Gently lift into my preheated Dutch oven and bake away. Once the bread is perfectly baked, lift the end flaps (with gloved hands, of course) and remove. They hand wash well, too. Great investment.
