If you have the right size you do not take hinge off. Just loosen and put in jamb side. Worked great. **Q: Do the shims help align doors so air gaps go away?** A: It worked for me. I used three shims at each hinge to move my door over to fill in the gap. However, if your door is twisted or warped it will not help you much. **Q: The two center door jam screws are offset, but the shim holes don't appear line up. Is that an issue? I have 4" hinge with 4 screws** A: I also used these on a 4" hinge with 4 screws and the holes lined up.
