Worth waiting for . . passing on a hint for future owners!
Although we love Makita, and dearly wanted as quiet a compressor as possible, when we read all the reviews here we felt we might be taking a chance upon this purchase! We learned a simple lesson worth passing on.Like all men, the day the compressor arrived first thing out of the box my husband and his friend immediately plug it in and listen to how quietly it ran! Which was beautiful! Then . . . . we load it up, haul it to our flooring job all excited to use this air compressor NOW!Get it up there, rig the lines turn it on, without looking first did not know both the regulators were pre set to MAX! And we can in no way back them off! The Amazon reviews warned us of regulator issues, Heck I had already called our service center and said “what if we have . . “ No joy they just will not turn by hand! We’ve drained the tank, no still no good. Do we get out the big mean wrenches! NO WE DO NOT! We turn off, unplug . . . sigh and say ok we’ll take it down to service center tomorrow.I have to say it was my husband with the brainstorm! Next morning he says . . I wonder . . . and goes out to our vehicle where it sat in waiting . . .Both regulators turn with the greatest of ease! My husband backed both off to minimum settings and ever since no troubles all all - our range (and we are only using the lighter side) is about 100 psi, we have no issues adjusting in our comfort range! Our theory about this: this compressor is factory tested before shipping. Factory tested at maximum setting! Most people who purchase one, what is the first thing they will do? Why plug it in see if it will run of course!Once turned on, if set at that maximum setting, the extreme pressure built up behind the regulators do not allow the said regulators to be backed off! One must, even with a drained tank, allow the unit to sit overnight for this pressure to bleed off.Other than this, 7 straight days of use in the same rooms I’m working in, small ipod with speaker playing softly in the background and it was just beautiful! Love being able to run 2 hoses so 2 nailers at the same time!Just an all around great unit. We are glad we finally purchased.I’d say it would be good to put something in the small pamphlet that comes with the compressor on how to troubleshoot this but not sure that would mean anyone would actually read it to see this.

Still trying to figure it out
I bought this air compressor hoping to replace a makita MAC2400 that I had. I did not have a specific use for the high pressure system, but I liked the idea of high pressure for the future. I dont believe this compressor makes air as fast as my old one. If they had two hot dog tanks on it, I think it would be and awesome machine. But it doesn't catch up on air vary fast. It does run quiet and doesn't draw a lot of power. I think I will go back to my old compressor for my next purchase.

Works great, but with a couple of catches
Nice and quiet, high pressure air compressor. Only complaint is that the high presser quick connect fittings are a strange size. I believe they only work with Makita tools. I swapped them out for some standard quick connect fittings. Unfortunately this was not a simple task since Makita reverse threads the holes that the fittings mount into. I looked into buying some Makita fittings but they are ridiculously expensive. Also, other people have complained that the pressure switch is set way to high when they received it, which caused failure in the pressure regulators. I didn't take any chances and set the turn-off pressure low before I turned it on for the first time. It has worked like a charm since day one, although I'm using it for a very low air flow application. I'm not sure how it performs for it's intended purpose as powering pneumatic tools.

2 for 2 Defective out of the box
I don't normally leave reviews but felt I should warn others. I ordered this for a job we had that required up to 300 psi for a nail gun to attach fiber cement siding to concrete block. The price point was attractive and I liked the feature of being able to also use it for standard nail guns. The compressor had a leak in the high pressure line from the compressor head to the check valve at the storage tank. I requested a replacement from Amazon and as usual they shipped one right out. When the replacement arrived it had a leak in the exact same place. The job was already one week behind and since there was obviously a manufacturing problem I was doubtful that a new replacement would fair any better. My options were, ask for another replacement and take a chance that 2 for 2 defective out of the box was a fluke, return the second defective compressor for a refund and order the one that I probably should have at a higher price and without the ability to also use it for standard air tools or have a custom made part locally and fix it at my expense.Since the job was behind and getting a replacement would delay it further I had a local hydraulic shop make up 2 custom lines (it turned out after replacing the one from the compressor head to the check valve that the line from the tank to the regulators was also leaking. When the lines were removed it was evident that during the manufacturing process the lines were compromised when the were bent in fabrication. After spending $140.00 for parts and time to replace defective parts the compressor did work flawlessly but having to have custom parts made and installed in order to get a brand new compressor to work is not something that should need to be done. You can't leave 0 stars so I left 1.

failed after use on 1 house! in for repair... ???
I am using it with normal framing nail guns and only on the low pressure side should have been easy on the unit. After they replace the "scored piston" I am going to try using an additional pressure tank either on High or low outlets to see if It will last.I have always trusted Makita tools and hope this is not an expensive disposable tool.

Fantastic and great service. Shipping was faster than expected.
Makita Has the solution. Introducing Makita High Pressure Technology compact in size with less weight and better fit, Makita delivers more power than most conventional nailers. Makita gives contractors ONE nailer to handle all of their framing needs. The Makita High Pressure system is designed for use with larger nails for engineered materials. New building codes are requiring larger nails to fasten engineered materials. Many contractors are using two different nailers to handle their framing needs. Makita is the leader in technology and has the solutions for new building codes. Makita delivers high pressure technology for the next generation of pneumatic nailers. Makita's new AC310H 2.5HP High Pressure Air Compressor delivers up to 400 PSI capacity for the next generation of high pressure nailers aand up to 130 PSI for conventional non-high pressure nailers. The new AC310H has an oiless pump designed for maintenance-free operation. Makita's new compressor has a roll cage and kick plate construction to withstand extreme jobsite environments. At 1,720 RPM, the AC310H has greater air displacement at lower RPM and lower noise than most conventional air compressors. With efficient dual-head (2 stage) pump, the AC310H provides faster recovery time and improved performance. The AC310H is equipped with two universal couplers for conventional nailers (3.6 CFM at 90 PSI) and two couplers for high pressure nailer (2.7 CFM at 300 PSI).
