Compartments are small (dimensions are as listed so don't be surprised!), but good for small items. This is a very sturdy box, but I'm not sure that I'd recommend it for traveling with snacks: the lid doesn't lock on and no grooves on lid to keep more liquidy items from mixing compartment contents which could be an issue for picky eaters. This is great for my smaller accessories though.
