The base unit looks nice and feels solid but there are several other pieces that work with the base to make the coffee and all of those parts appear to be cheaply made. First there is a metal tube/channel that gets connected to the top of the base unit that the heated water moves through before dropping into the grounds basket. You push the tube onto the base unit, and it sits, not very securely, onto a gasket on the base unit. Then you set a cheap plastic top over the tube. The plastic cover on my machine would not set flush with the base unit due to how high the metal water tube was sitting (and would not go down further). As the metal water tube is exposed at the top, if you immediately pull off the cover to make more coffee, your hand can very easily come into contact with the hot tube which is painful. The grounds container is cheap plastic in two parts, a base section where the filters and grounds sit and another cheap plastic cover for the grounds container. The glass pot is the thing I hate the most about this machine. It reminds me of those small cheap pots you get with hotel coffee makers in your room. The handle is molded into the shape of a handle but does not feel solid and the sharp edges push against my hand when the pot is full. This machine looks nice, but I found it lacking in functionality. Note in the box says if you have problems not to return to vendor but to contact the manufacturer.
