## Description

"Relay G30 redefines the wireless experience for guitarists and bassists. Its superior sound, professional dependability and refreshing simplicity are unavailable from other wireless systems. Polycarbonate stompbox-style system Side-mounted 1/4-inch ins and outs on receiver Internal antennas on receiver Reciever has standard 9VDC power 10Hz-20kHz frequency response 6 compatible channels 100 feet line-of-sight transmission range (may vary with local conditions) 24-bit Delta Sigma, 128 times oversampling Transmitter has approx. 8 hour battery life (2 AA batteries) Superior Sound Relay G30 provides a pure signal. Its clarity rivals that of the highest-quality guitar cables. Guitars get a beautiful high-end sparkle and basses get a thunderous low-end punch, even at distances of up to 30 meters. Traditional wireless systems compromise their sound by rolling-off crucial high- and low-end frequencies and compressing their signals. Relay G30 offers superior sound with full bandwidth and zero compression. Professional Dependability Relay G30 broadcasts its robust signal over the 2.4GHz band. This keeps the signal free from many kinds of interference. For added security, Relay G30 employs exclusive signal protection technology: it broadcasts an encrypted data stream on six channels simultaneously. Receiver features side-mounted 1/4-inch ins and outs and internal antennas, making it easy to add to a pedal board. Switch between cable and wireless systems without having to adjust the tone settings on your amplifier. Traditional wireless systems, on the other hand, are susceptible to dropouts, static and many other kinds of interference. Broadcasting over congested UHF bands, their signals may be affected by interference generated as far away as 160 kilometers, or more. Refreshing Simplicity Relay G30 is a low-profile system that's easy to use. The lightweight transmitter remains out of the way of your performance, and the rugged receiver can sit on top of your amp or be added to your pedal board. The receiver offers easy-to-read LEDs that display power, status and battery life. Attached to Your Guitar Cable? For players attached to cables, adopting a wireless system introduces many questions: What will it feel like? Will it change my sound? Relay G30 sounds just like a cable, but it also sounds just like your cable. Relay G30 features two EQ settings that match the frequency responses of typical guitar cables. Different players use different cables, but all players can use Relay G30. VWT Exclusive VWT (Virtual Wire Transmission) technology ensures full-range frequency response, excellent transient response, and wide dynamic range - just like a high-quality guitar cable. Superior Specs Relay digital wireless systems produce full-range tones with 10Hz-20kHz frequency response, exceedingly low noise with up to 120dB dynamic range, and studio-quality resolution with 24-bit A/D conversion. (Comparably priced analog wireless systems offer 50Hz-15kHz frequency response and 90dB dynamic range. This wreaks havoc on your tone, especially if you use a high-gain amp.) Cable Tone Simulation Using a cable and a wireless system? Now you can switch back and forth without having to adjust the tone settings on your amplifier. Relay digital wireless systems feature a Cable Tone Simulator, which lets you match the sound of your Relay to the sound of your cable. Compander-Free Companders squash your signal and ruin your tone. Analog wireless systems require companders but Relay wireless systems do not. Remaining compander-free enables Relay to deliver a beautiful high-end sparkle, thunderous low-end punch, and touch response that analog wireless systems simply cannot deliver. Remaining compander-free gives better sound than analog wireless systems. DCL Exclusive DCL (Digital Channel Lock) technology automatically locks out all sources of interference. The only sound that will come out of your amplifier is you-not static, not Top 40 radio-just you. 2.4GHz broadcast The best way to avoid interference? Don't get in its way. Relay digital wireless systems broadcast in the 2.4GHz band, which successfully avoids interference caused by TV stations, public safety broadcasts, cell phone towers, and other high-powered sources. What About WiFi? Worried about interference caused by 2.4GHz WiFi networks and Bluetooth devices? Don't be. Relay digital wireless systems use uniquely addressed and encoded digital transmission technology. Your tone will make it from your transmitter to your receiver free of interference. Don't waste time scanning for open channels. Full Quality, No Matter What Whether you're playing two feet from your Relay G30 or at the edge of its range, you get the same great specs: full frequency response, superior dynamic range, cable-inspired dependability, and 24-bit A/D conversion. All Channels, All the Time All channels in all Relay digital wireless systems work all the time. Too good to be true? Maybe for an analog wireless system. Relay digital wireless systems are different. There's no website to reference, and no need to scan for open channels."

Review: Sounds great but use rechargable batteries - I play an 8 string bass (4 octave pairs) with active pickups, so the output is hot and bright. The G30 faithfully and flawlessly handles both the highs and lows at least as good as any cable - less potential for hum and noise pickup. The dynamic range is great, virtually noiseless, and never overloads, even with my hotter than usual output. I've never experienced drop outs when playing live, and have wandered around both the stage and the floor out front. Update 1/30/2014: I originally rated this as 4 star but have since re-rated as 5 star. Why? Firstly, I went through 2 units, and returned each to Guitar Center because the battery housing lid simply would not latch closed. Maybe all AA batteries aren't a standard length, but I tried several well known makes, and no go. Suspecting a faulty batch at GC, I ordered a G30 set from desertcart (cheaper also!). Same problem. Impossible to close the lid. Being an engineer I finally gave in, and with a small file, filed a small amount off of the latch. That worked, and now the lid closes, and the latch is secure (no batteries falling out as others have reported). But the next potential concern is that this thing gobbles normal Alkaline batteries. I can't make it through two ~2.5 hour practice sessions without having to change the pair. OK, AA are not expensive, but man, having to change out a pair every 4 hours or so just is so wasteful. Update: 1/30/2014: I originally stated in this review that I didn't think rechargables would work. Well, in desperation, I bought a set of 4 1400mAHr capacity Energizer NiMH rechargables, and I was pleasantly surprised that they work fine, and hold up just about as long as the Alkaline batteries were holding up. I keep one pair charged as a spare, and use the other pair, alternating between charges. I've been doing this for four or five months now, and had no problems. I played a four hour gig the other night, and one set lasted all night. Finally, the belt clip is a bit weak. It was ok at first but has now become very loose to the point that it won't stay clipped on. Still the unit is small enough that it could fit in my pocket, though you do have to watch for the channel select switch getting knocked (which will instantly cut you off - trust me, I know). Despite the minor faults listed above, I would recommend this unit to anyone based on its ultralight and compact shape, and its terrific performance. Having found rechargables work, I lifted the rating to 5 stars.
Review: Great quality, clear as cable and no static! - I have been using this line 6 wireless guitar system for a while now. I can walk about any floor or even outside into my yard with no signal loss this system works great. I also can't hear any different in tone from using this or a 20-ft cable. This is much better than the wireless systems of the same price range I used 15 plus years ago.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will the g30 work in usa and does it do good with a bottom b bass string ?**
A: DavyoI'm a four stringer but with the G30's 10 Hz bottom frequency response it should handle a B string's 31Hz with room to spare. T Case the Bass

**Q: I'm looking at using this with an acoustic electric bass. I see lots of comments about how great it makes guitars sound, but nothing about a bass.**
A: I use this with bass and it's great. The tone is all there (in fact, I'd say it's better than using a cable). You will not be disappointed.

**Q: Does the transmitter make any pop sound when you turn ON or OFF the power switch? This is important since it doesn't have a mute button like the G50.**
A: I haven't noticed anything like that. Although if you were concerned about that, you can put the transmitter on a different channel than the receiver when plugging in.

**Q: The lekato 2.4 ghz version works pretty good - will this boss be better for $150 more ?**
A: I didn’t have much good luck with this system… I would not recommend it to anyone.. I actually have mine away and bought a shure unit which I totally recommend the shure

### ⭐ Works great, when it wants to
*by J***L on November 3, 2023*

Had mine for a couple years now and in theory it should be awesome byt mine has been very undependable. It was dropping signal when I was 5 ft from the receiver, transmitter had fresh batteries, tried different channels and nothing helped. Got worse as the night went on. It was dropping signal about every 2 minutes. For the cost, I would like to think it could at least keep a signal that close. Occasionally I could go off the stage but then it would drop signal out there as well. Update: after some internet searching I found that the battery compartment is a weak spot on the transmitter. Put a hair tie around the battery compartment and had zero issues with it.
