Fairly easy to do, just follow the instructions
** Update: Make sure you test things thoroughly before you button the car up, and I mean thoroughly. I found, after hooking mine up, that the brake lights don't work when the tail lights are on. The turn signals will flash, and the emergency flashers, but you step on the brake, nothing happens. Turn the tail lights off, they go to working. I checked wires individually after hooking it up, but failed to test combinations. buy one of those little testers that has three led's built into a connector-you'll be glad you did.Okay, so if you're going to be installing this on your 2011 Kia Sportage, here's what you do.If you want photos, I used [...]as the source for my info-he's accurate.Empty all the junk outta the trunk. Pull out the carpet, the floor mat and the tray so you're looking at the spare tire.See that grey plate along the back? The one along where the latch mechanism is? Take those three fasteners out, but be careful. They look like screws, but strip easily. Start them with a screwdriver, then finish by hand. Now pop that cover off-the fasteners are tough, but it will pop off completely. Now look on the bottom left side. See the side panel with the light in it? See the screws at the bottom? Take those out. Now grab the bottom of the panel, and pull on it like a starving man fighting for a plate of nachos. It will come out, but NOT ALL THE WAY. Bend it toward the center of the car, working the tab over the tire. It will bend far enough to do this without damaging it-I hope-mine did. Now wedge it out there-I used a jack handle. Now remove the left tail light. Take out the two screws, and pull straight back. If you've never taken out your tail light, you're in for an adventure. I've seen welds that don't hold as well as the push in fasteners that Kia uses on this tail light. It will come out-trust me. Now disconnect the tail light bulb wire, and push the wire and grommet back inside. You now have your wires ready to go. You'll use the one you pushed back from the tail light for the stop (green with black stripe) and tail light (solid green) wires. Unwrap these wires, and splice in using your choice of connectors. If you're not sure how to do this, I'd suggest spending the extra money on the plug in version of this. If you are, then just splice away. Rather than using those cheap saddle splices, which I hate, I strip/solder/heat shrink mine. A little more time, but they're never coming apart. Now look for the wire bundle that runs straight down through a grommet in the trunk floor. Unwrap this to get your turn signal connections. Solid white is left turn, white with black stripe is right turn. Now unscrew the 10mm bolt that the other wires are grounded to, add the ground for this device, and reinstall the bolt. Now sticky tape the box to the side, but don't go too high, there's just enough wire coming out-if you put it up inside the fender, it won't reach. Now put your car back together, and you're ready to go.As for functionality, it does what it says it will. Combines turn/stop lights just fine.Sticky tape the box to the side, where the padding goes, and test your new connector. Assuming it all works,

good price and It works good
I had to replace an existing trailer light converter that had went bad on my 02 Ford Windstar. So I hooked up all the wires to the existing hook ups and tested it and found that the taillights worked opposite. so the trailer taillights were on when the car tail lights were off and when the car taillights where on the trailers were off. I found the Windstar has the taillights powered all the time and the computer grounds them to turn them on. So I had to hook a relay in the circuit that would put power to the taillight circuit when the computer grounded the taillights. After doing that everything worked fine.

Quick and easy install
The Reese converter worked great on my 2006 Kia Rio.Wires were clearly labeled and the instructions were solid. So far it is performing exactly as advertised. One small issue: I was surprised that the converter kit did not include any quick-splice connectors or wire ties. I happened to have a few around, but would have been disappointed if I started the project and had to run out for those.

lets light it up!
This unit is a life saver if you are wiring separate turn / brake lights into a single system. IE. a trailer with standard driving lights, right and left turn signals with brake lights using the same circuit. I have used this item 2 times now... one is installed on a VW Beetle with 265,000 miles on it. (diesel) and it has not failed yet! Great product!

Good trailer light adapter. For 3-wire car with 2-wire trailer.
This was easy to install. My car has two more wires then my trailer does because the trailer has two filaments each bulb and the car has red brake lights and yellow blinkers. Does not require an extra power wire; it is powered by the car lights. (Not designed for LED bulbs.)-Chris

Easy install. Forget it's there
Follow easy instruction to install this yourself, or take your car to a shop. I've done it myself and it took me about half an hour to finish the job. The hardest part was to figure out which existing car wires do what. Used this for about 2 years now and it works fine. Would recommend.
