Fix for F5 E3 error on Maytag front loader
My (Consumer Reports top pick) Maytag front loader (MHW5500FW) locked itself mid load and began to flash F5 E3. This part and 15 minutes fixed it. Anyone with a T-20 Torx screwdriver or bit and two zip ties (STRONGLY recommended, for your sanity, but not essential) can do it. A spring clamp will be helpful. No repair skills required. Here’s what to do:1. Try a hard reset for the machine. Turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Wait 15 minutes before turning it back on.2. If the error is back, order this part. A diagnostic visit cost me $65. This part was $37. I would have saved time, frustration, and money, if I had attempted the replacement before waiting and paying for a diagnostic visit. You’ll have to wait for them to get the part, so it’ll be even longer if you wait for the service to happen.3. Open the door of the machine. It is very likely to be locked shut. The easy way to get it open is to turn on the machine, then gently try to open the door. It’ll keep clicking and flashing the error code. If you try a gentle pull, it will open mid-click. If that doesn’t work, remove the top of the machine and reach in and open the door from the top. You’ll need to remove three screws from the back of the top of the machine and lift off the top. You’ll need a Phillips screwdriver.4. Unplug the machine. With the door open, reach around the rubber seal holding down the drum. You’ll find a spring-loaded wire. Follow the wire to the spring part and remove the entire wire. Fold back the rubber two screws holding the door latch assembly (on the body of the machine, not the door). If you have a spring clamp, use it to hold down the rubber so it won’t be in your way.5. Detach the two wire harnesses from the old door latch assembly.6. Attach the harnesses to the new part.7. Put in the part and replace the screws.8. Replace the rubber seal. Go all around to ensure that it is flush against the machine.9. The spring in the wire has a loop on either end. Put a strong zip tie (the plastic kind used to tie cables) through each loop. These ties will be the handles that save your sanity.10. You want the spring to end up at 6 o’clock. Position the wire and tuck it in as far as you can. An extra person can be very helpful here. When you feel resistance, use the zip ties to pull the spring apart.11. Check to ensure that the rubber seal and wire are firmly in place all around the drum.12. Plug in your machine and pat yourself on the back.13. Enjoy the fact that you saved at least $230 and a week of frustration.14. Never buy a Maytag again. Whirlpool has acquired and destroyed it.

Very Possibly A Fix for Your Error Code E02 F05.
My rating on the part itself is a 3 (as to Whirlpool/Maytag) but 5+ as to this vendor in terms of speed of shipping and price. The other day my 1 year old Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer started making funny clicking noises and would not lock or run. Error Code E02 F05, I believe. I took a gamble and ordered this part. Opinions differ but this is how I went. Take off top (3 brass colored screws, 1/4 inch drive), disconnect control panel (2 x 1/4 inch drive screws and 2 Torx (T20?) in the detergent bay. Then set the control panel on top. Remove 4 brass colored screws on bottom (1/4 inch drive). Remove door (4x T20 Torx, I believe). Remove front panel top screws (3 x 3/8 drive, I believe). I did NOT take the front panel all of the way off as I didn't want to mess with the snap ring on the boot/seal on the door. Last item 2x Torx (T20?) on the door lock itself. Pull switch gently through side panel while second person holds the panel. Lift the white plastic tab to pull the top electrical connector and similar for the larger lower one. Change out with new switch. They are position specific. (The big one has tab extensions on the connector and little "slits" in the switch itself so you don't reverse it. The white one on top goes in by gently lifting the top tab up. Make note of the round plastic thing at the top as this is a manual release for the door if it is ever jammed. (bottom left of the photo of the article in this product listing). That was it. I ran a diagnostic and the first one (C00) cleared the door. Functioning normally. This part was quoted as $110 including tax at several appliance parts places in FL (including Marcone). I went ahead and just purchased a spare. My compliments to the vendor. I ordered on Friday, 10/7/2016 during Hurricane Matthew and the vendor and USPS had that bad boy here from South Carolina by Sunday. That said, I am not happy with Whirlpool as this item should not have failed just a year into its life.

Fixed my Whirlpool F05/E03 codes
Exactly what I needed to fix my Whirlpool F05/E03 codes. Very easy install with a quick YouTube video. Saved a significant amount of money for a service call not to mention the time with scheduling what likely would have been two service visits one to diagnose/order parts and second to install part. Thanks again Amazon!

Fixed the door lock issue on my Maytag Washer (Error F5 E3)
If you're at all a DIYer, this is an easy part to replace. Google for YouTube videos on how to do it. On my front-load washer, the most difficult part is replacing the retaining ring on the door gasket, but watching other videos on replacing the gasket gives great clues to the proper technique.

Big Savings
Based on some other reviews, and the unsavory alternative of a professional repair estimated at $375 + part(s), we decided to try out this item and a DIY repair. The YouTube videos were invaluable - it took minutes to do the minor disassembly, a few more to install the replacement part, and a few tries to get the tensioner / springy thingy back on. Solved the problem first try in less than 10 minutes! Saved several hundred dollars, at least a week dealing with appliance repair company, prevented stranger(s) in our house during COVID, etc. Now we're racing to catch up on laundry. Yaaaaaaaaay.

Super fast shipping
Super fast shipping, and the part was a 100% exact match to the part I needed to replace in my Maytag Maxima front load washer, down to the fine print on the part body. Maytag and Whirlpool share may of the same parts, I found while researching the fix that I needed this part for. This was a simple fix. Here's a Youtube video explaining it:[...]Re-attaching the rubber boot was the most frustrating part, but with patience it is not too difficult. Just take your time and follow the advice in the video. The door lock swap took less than 1 minute, super easy. Maybe 5-10 minutes total with re-attaching the rubber boot.

Fixed my Error Code E02 F05.
My Whirlpool Duet Model #WFW72HEDW0 recently stopped working, spitting out error code E02 F05 (Door lock issue). I could hear the soft click of the relay clicking in the control box, but the louder clunk of the solenoid used to lock the door was not working. The first thing to try is cleaning the contacts on the wiring harness between the control box and door switch. If that does not work then the problem is likely with the solenoid. A quick swap out of the door lock unit (this part) and my washing machine is back up and running.Part came fast with Amazon Express shipping, and it appears to be a genuine whirlpool part (not that that means much since the old one that broke was only 2 years old).

Perfect match!
Good replacement. The original one on my washer from whirlpool failed after I pulled open the door when the lock was engaged. The installation was fairly easy. It works and hasn’t failed yet.
