Box Contains One D'Addario Zyex Violin Single E String, 4/4 Scale, Medium Tension Review: So much warmer and nicer than the D'Addario Prelude - The D'Addario Prelude had been the wires for my kids for years and worked so well. While their skills ramping up, I've been wondering the instrument is limiting their skills... and it does. The Zyex strings though way higher price, seems to play cleaner and easier to control articulation, not a lot but seems little bit. The biggest difference is a warmer tone making the instrument sounded elevated to a more expensive tier. It sounds way more professional when in performance, comparing to Prelude. I Don't mean Prelude is bad. It's very good and robust too. Just if the players capable of Grade 6 or above, and little struggling for a cleaner, nicer tone, can try this string before swapping to a more expensive violin. Moreover, I got this for 3/4 violin, I don't really want to swap to a new violin while the player will soon outgrown to get a 4/4 size. BTW after months of use, like Prelude, I'd keep spare E strings around, and had replaced a D String due to the outer silvery coil slipped apart exposing the underlying copper colour core. The E strings are not expensive to stock spares, due to my girls' sweat makes the E-string rusting black out way faster than all other strings, with both Zyex and Prelude experienced the same. For the D-String I believe it's not a quality issue, cos my girl might use it really hard, from all the grinded marks on the violin neck. If I have to nitpick, these strings take longer to settle. I've pre-stretched the strings after replacing, and it seems the tone flat out more and taking few more days than Prelude to stay more stable. But for an acoustic instrument with strings... is always what we have to take. And its nicer tone worth this little tolerance just to tone it more.
