The remote is actually handy to access the timer mode. The supplied batteries were replaced with Energizer Lithium cells due to leakage concerns. Be advised that the remote batteries are wrapped in plastic and mine were backwards. Install the vertically stacked bottom clock battery by retracting the top spring with a toothpick or wood cuticle stick.
