Do not let a body shop convince you that they can somehow "fix" it with sanding and filling. The metal is compromised. You can do a massive cutout around it and weld in new steel. Or replace the bed. Got quotes for both. It will cost thousands. This is a much simpler option. Had a local shop paint them to match (300 bucks) and a buddy help me install them. First, we ground out the rust as best as possible (he really did most of the work) and painted with a penetrating rust stopper to at least slow it down - there is really no easy way to stop it at this point. Quality seems very good. I like how the mount points are stepped inwards so there is space between the flare and the metal to allow it to breath. The hardware that came with it seemed to be of decent quality. The side holes (4 each) use an kind of s-bracket so you do not have to drill into the steel. The top holes (2 each) use existing holes in the fender however they may have rusted out depending on how far gone it is. Overall, well worth the effort. You do not have to have them painted but I think it dresses up the truck nicely. If and when the rust reaches above them (which will be a while), I guess I will have to upgrade to dualies! :) Review: Fits good good product for price (mine needed some modifications) - The rears fit good. But I needed to elongate the holes to make the front flares bolt on. Its not to big of a deal for me to have to modify the bolt holes a little (about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch on each bolt) so im not knocking any stars off for that. For the price compared to others its a great deal. The material seems like it would hold up a long time almost feels like the simi playable Rubbermaid totes. It came with all needed mounting hardware. I did have to tap holes and make some adjustments. Reason for the 4 stars is due to there isn’t a great hole alignment at all. The hardware it came with is ok, I’d recommend something a little more sturdy if you can reuse the bolts from the truck or have extra lying around. Happy with how it came out and looks covering the rust.
