Came with good instructions for shifting the U-shaped band that secures the top ball joint to the hood. The rest you have to figure out but it's easy. The right strut is longer than the left. After releasing the strut from the top ball joint, the old right strut just pulls out of the plastic sleeve that's attached to the car body at the bottom and the new strut slides in. Even though there's a threaded bolt extending out of the bottom of the strut, the right strut does not screw in. The left strut is screwed into the red button assembly. Pull out the left strut by pushing in the red button and pulling out. You'll have to push the red button again when it reaches the fully open hood position. Unscrew the red button assembly, screw it into the new strut and re-insert the whole thing into the bottom sleeve. Reattach the top to the ball joint on the hood and slip the U-shaped band back over the ball.
