I have sleep apnea and need to wear a chin strap. The chin strap, of course, runs over the top of my head and was creatng a dent in the top of my skull. It would mess up the way my hair would lie. I looked like there was a "saddle" on top of my head... lol. I use this helmet under the chin strap strap that runs over the top of my head. No more dents in the top of my head and my hair brushes out beautifully. You can cut this helmet to custom fit. I wear it every night and couldn't be happier that I found it.
