It has an auto mode that once it fully charges the battery it will switch to maintainer mode and trickle charge it without ruining it. So yes.

On the SC1279 - this depends on the age of the battery and the beginning voltage, the draw on the battery and if the battery needs any type of desulfation

Why does it say you can use it with lithium batteries in the description, but in the questions here the manufacturer says it won't charge lithium?

I have only used it to charge a car battery. Works fine for that but being only 8 amp a slow charge. Would not use on lithium batteries if directions don't support that type. Lithium batteries are volatile and could start a fire.
