The color guard is very dark and at first was intimidating but don't worry, once it dries it looks even. It does smell pretty good upon application. After a few hours it will smell like regular tanner and not like berries but it's not overbearing. I am most definitely going to continue to use this product and would strongly recommend it :) The pics I have do not do it justice and I'm not in natural light :/ Also as a side note, for me it tanned my stretch marks really good as well. I've had issues with tanners in the past making my stretch marks look funny and had no issues with this.
