And even tho it's not the quality of Snap-On sets or other top professional brands like Mac or Matco, this set cost me the same as 1 payment towards my snap-on set costed me! I wasn't expecting anything super nice when ordering this set. Never had heard of the brand. When I received the set tho, it actually surpassed my expectations in every aspect! Nice casing with tools that seem to be well stamped to indicate sizes. The tools themselves arent Snap-On quality. But I'd say they aren't that far from that quality! Basically, I'll never buy another brand again. These supposedly have a lifetime warranty (which drill bits and taps from most of the leading tool manufacturers don't come with a warranty like the rest of their branded hand tools do), and if the warranty process is a breeze (if I ever need it)... I'd have absolutely nothing but good to say about this tool manufacturer. Hell, it may even become a brand that my Snap-On toolbox contains a lot more of lol! Serious tho, I'm seriously hard on tools and don't own anything I haven't had to warranty at least once or twice. Every tool I own gets used and gets used a lot! I am more than satisfied with this set and it looks beautiful in my box and along side all of my Snap-On branded tools... can post pics if interested.... Tekton tools has my endorsement and stamp of approval. I look forward to adding more of it to my box! However, I'm already out of room in my KRL master series tool box with riser and locker... time to maybe trade it in for the xtra large Epic series Snap-On box ;-p Definitely gonna have to happen if the rest of Tekton's tools are priced similar to this tap m die set and are as well made... If your a true DIYer or handyperson, you'll be surprised how often you'll use this type of device if you have it readily available.I make custom length bolts from rod stock, extend threads on hex head machine bolts, clean up damaged threads etc. The quality of the steel is first rate as the taps and dies that get the most use have shown no wear so far. More importantly, the handles are rugged and have held up perfectly under some tough situations.Do invest in buying a bottle of dedicated cutting fluid at local Big Box or hardware store. I would recommend using a few dabs of chevron sr-51 grease when tapping. Picks up the metal shavings and keeps the entire tap lubed. The taps come in 2 flavors, fine and course thread. This set is for machined threads. Does not come with pipe tappers. Only thing I'm unsatisfied with is the carry case, the dies are continually falling out. The molded plastic isn't sturdy enough to hold in all the pieces.If people are snapping taps, I suspect they are going too fast and are not backing out after each bite. It's easy, in a little bit, back out, in a little further, back out, etc... These go as large as you'll likely ever see in your home garage but keep in mind they don't go as small as you'll normally see, so this set won't cover the entire range for the home garage user.As stated in other reviews, the center screw in the die stock that splits the die to control size is worthless because it is not hardened. You will not be able to use the dies until you solve that problem. I took a 9.8 property class hex head bolt of the appropriate thread and ground a blunt point on it, this works.The molded case is junk, all the items were loose from handling and when I opened the case everything spilled out. I could see right away the case isn't robust enough to securely hold the heavy tools in their sockets, so I threw it straight in the trash. As far I care the case served OK for a shipping container and nothing more. I put the tools in a drawer of my tool box. If you intend to used the case to transport the tool set you'll probably be disappointed.As for the quality of the cutting tools, they're OK for the price.
