Rinse the band with water. Do NOT use hand soap, body soap, dish soap, hand sanitisers, cleaning wipes or household cleaners, which could get trapped beneath the band and irritate skin. Always dry the band well before putting it back on. To remove build-up of lotions and oils (such as sunscreen, insect repellent and moisturisers) that can be trapped beneath the band, we recommend that you use a soap-free cleanser like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser or Aquanil, rinse thoroughly and dry well. For tough spots, stains or build-up on your band, scrub with a wet, soft-bristled toothbrush. For light-coloured elastomer accessory bands, minimise direct contact with dark-coloured clothing, as colour transfer may occur. FOR LEATHER BANDS: Wipe down the band with a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth. If needed, you can lightly dampen the cloth with water. Leather bands aren't sweat or water resistant. Soaking them might cause discolouration or other damage. Gently wipe away excess moisture with a dry, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth and let the band air dry. Direct sunlight, high temperatures and humid conditions can cause discolouration or damage over time. The materials used in these accessories are intended to be worn during normal daily activity. They are not intended to be worn during high-intensity workouts or sleep, which could affect the overall appearance and quality of the accessory. A good device to motivate
I bought this for the wife, we both need to get fit. It was setup entirely using her iPhone, no computer needed. The initial update failed but succeeded once we rebooted the watch (there is a smell button in the charger to reboot). Set up was simple and took about 3 minutes. We took it for a brisk walk and the distance and steps reported we almost exactly as my Apple Watch. Activating the device takes getting used to and its worth watching the online demos but after a few days it becomes second nature. She hasn't tried the sleep feature yet as she tends to take it off when going to bed so not sure how that works. She really likes the automatic detention of activity so she never has to tell the watch what she is doing. The web site is also great so she can get a quick overview of her weekly progress.A great way to motivate you to exercise and move, it also intergrates with some iPhone apps so now it reminds her when to drink water.Would defiantly recommend.

Excellent piece of equipment - worth the money
PLEASE NOTE: Supplied photos are with an additional wrist band I purchased also via Amazon.Awesome piece of kit, my husband bought me the far cheaper Flex 2 to encourage me to use it. It was great to have but my grievance was removing the face of it to enable charging. I also found I wanted it to tell me the time. This is a great medium between the Flex 2 and the larger Fitbit models. It does what my previous one did but also tells me the time. Charging is much simpler, no need to dismantle it to charge, just peg on the charger and away you do. I even bought a charger dock for my desk at work so no excuses for it to run out of battery. The gold on the sides of this device is also a really nice little addition of glamour. I'd consider myself more tomboy than anything but this adds a nice touch. At the minute on other sites this Gold Alta is between £120 - £149, I got mine from Amazon on sale for £99 which I'm so glad about! With the added no is of next day Prime Membership delivery - all my boxes have been ticked.

Poor strap
Had this for 18months now and got mixed feelings. The device itself is good and seems to work ok, but the strap broke after about 8 months. I bought a cheap replacement and that broke as well, then realised it was still under warranty and so got a new strap from fitbit - that one lasted about 10 months and has now broken as well! 2nd replacement strap is on order - still under warranty. Customer services seem to be pretty good, but there are no straps in stock ATM - I wonder why!!Added to that, it seems to have problems syncing with the android app - works sometimes and not others for no apparent reason. All in all, a nice device, slim, functional, but needs a bit of work to improve it.

My Fitbit Alta stopped working almost 12 months to the day!
I was relatively happy with my Alto until it stopped working while on holiday. I didn’t worry too much and thought(hoped) it might be something to do with where I was and maybe I had missed an update. After arriving home and lots of trying to reset it etc I realised the battery just wasn’t holding any charge. This appears to becoming a common complaint according to the forums. Strange how these things have faults almost exactly a year after receiving and a week out of warranty! They might as well say “yours for a whole year “ in the marketing. At least that would be honest.

Not convinced
The day my Fitbit arrived I was so excited to get in the gym and try it out! Has so many great features like calorie count, personally tailored features that enable you to keep track of your goals, water intake tracker and more! I especially LOVED the text/call feature of when people are trying to contact me! (As I'm always missing important texts when I have my phone in my bag!!) However I soon began to doubt the data as on the first night I wore it bed, I woke up the next morn and it said I had burnt 600 calories in my sleep!! And from waking up to driving to work, it said I had done 2,000 steps which is HIGHLY unlikely. It has since kept showing me very high statistics that I just can't see as being realistic sometimes. I have been online and found many people are expieriencing this same problem and I am yet to find out why?! Hopefully it's something I can reset but if not it defeats the object of having a fit bit :-(

Can no longer wear
I love my Fitbit for tracking my sleep and exercise, but I started with a burning tingling back pain after a few weeks of wearing my Alta. I never thought it would be connected to wearing this device so carried on wearing it. I then left it off for a week and the pain didn’t go away but it was better, I put the Alta on again and within two days the pain was back to full strength. I haven’t worn it again now for over a week and the pain has subsided again, so I am thinking that the pain is caused by wearing the Fitbit. This is such a shame as I do miss it, also I am now left with an expensive tracker that I can no longer wear.

Waste of money.
It doesn't hold charge, dies after 10hrs and step counts really aren't anywhere near being right... Apparently I've done 460 steps whilst sat on the floor, drying my hair!! Waste of 90£!! Returned and refund issued.
