A solid, dependable gaming laptop
The Dell G5 15 is a step up from my previous laptop, and it works well for both business and personal use. It runs games as recent as Resident Evil: Village with only a few decreases in video quality needed. Its memory is divided up into 100 GB SD and 900 GB HD - programs and files on the SD will load quicker, so it is best to store most of your data on the HD if you don't mind it taking longer to load. Its battery life is strong as well.My only complaint is that its fans are noisy, especially when you are playing a demanding game. It can also heat up fairly quickly, so I would recommend getting a cooling pad to go with it.Overall, the pros of the laptop outweigh its cons. I wanted a higher-end gaming laptop without going over budget, and this model delivered on what I had hoped for. I purchased my model in December 2018, and it is still going strong as of writing. I would recommend it to people who want a compact, portable, and powerful gaming machine that can still work well with everyday applications.

PC works great!
I waited a while before writing this review in case anything came up. Which it did, but it didn't have anything to do with the PC hardware..This is a really good laptop. It's lightweight and running windows on a SSD definitely makes a difference! I've been wanting a computer that had the OS on a SSD for years now and I finally have it in this affordable little gem. The laptop itself isn't much to look at. It does have nifty red back-lighting to the keyboard, which is nice as I'm frequently in a dark room. I do wish it offered more color options for the back-light, but I'm satisfied with what I have. I do wish it was a little easier to navigate the partitions though. Since the OS is on the first partition the system defaults to trying to put literally everything on the C:/ drive. It would be more convenient if I could figure out how to get photos and docs to autosave to the D:/ drive and if my quick links linked to the second partition (D:/ drive).. There probably is a way to do it, I just haven't done it yet.The only issue I have had with the laptop didn't have anything to do with the laptop hardware, it was an OS issue. The PC I purchased is a refurb, which is fine for me, but someone forgot to take the retail OS off the PC and put the OEM OS on so it ended up throwing notifications that my windows license was about to expire, which Amazon took care of. They ended up crediting my account so I could purchase another version of windows and install myself. While it was annoying to have to go out of my way to do work on, what is to me, a new laptop but it worked out fine. Overall I give this laptop a 9 out of 10. You get what you pay for, luckily this PC is a really good mid-range gaming laptop. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Very, very good, but not great. Get the larger SSD
Overall this is a very, very good product. Graphics are great, computer is fast, very stylish. However the 128 GB SSD C: drive is way too small. Virtually every additional program you install defaults to the C: drive for program files and data storage. I crashed my C: drive when my Microsoft "one drive" attempted to download my pre-existing data files from the old computer to the new computer's C: drive. My Microsoft Office 365 re-installation puts my huge existing data files (mostly huge Outlook .PST files) on the C: drive. If you are fairly computer literate you can overcome these issues, but novices will have difficulties. The problem is not with the computer. Software products, including Microsoft, simply have not adapted to the dual SSD/HD configuration options to allow minimal installations on the SSD drives and huge data files on another drive. Also the Dell installation includes the dreaded SmartByte program which throttles my 1 GB/sec Ethernet connection down to a snail's pace. Deleting Smartbyte solves that issue, but each Dell "update' re-installs Smartbyte.I would definitely but this again, but only with at least a 256 GB

Waket wakey eggs and cpu... how to avoid a hot laptop
Wakey wakey eggs and bakey! After a while of playing some of my favorite video games on my Dell G5587-7866BLK-PUS G5 15 5587 (very creative name), I found it was trying to make me breakfast! Wow I thought... Technology had advanced! So with a quick sprint, I wen to the fridge and decided to help out. Mmm, egg with a side of fried computer parts! A treat for every gamer!Luckily for me I decided today I didn't feel like gnawing on burnt cpu, so no parts were damaged yet.But now let's get seriousThere is a quick fix just incase you want to play extra minutes. As shown in the picture, I stand my aspiring chef on top of two wooden bars. Any bars will do (or even paper towel rolls) Try not to cover the vents underneath it can let all the hot air out.And if thats not available sit it on your lap and spread your legs... not the most comfortable position, but... I tried it... it works...I hope it works for anyone who has an overheating laptop! And besides that it is an excellent computer, played games on high settings with no lag! A great investment! And it wont cook over the smallest things (writing papers and such)Also, it heats up more with the charger plugged in, I dunno why.
