I play games - valorant mainly- and the imaging on these headsets are TOP NOTCH , it’s been a few days since I’ve received it and my hs% rose quite significantly (from 25% to 32%) and it’s pretty affordable compared to other premium headphones , this is definitely worth the price tag and the design is so comfortable that I can sit for hours without any headaches/neck pain , the soft cushions and headrest allow the product to fit any head shape (also can be adjusted height wise) , functionality wise the headset excels at what it does , not just for gaming but for music/video watching too! After playing back some songs I listen to regularly I was able to hear certain segments which I couldn’t hear previous on my previous headset. The wire is nicely coiled up and is very stretchy so I can move around freely without any worry. Sound quality Bass ... very nice respone in bass .... can hear proper texture of bass.....not warm and not so rigid...... specially it can respond good in low bass arround 40hz bit down in 20hz mark need equalization and above 40hz mark its good and responsive. Mids...... are refined can hear every detail of each part and can pin point the imperfections.....clarity in mids is good not as great as hd 650 and hd 660s. Highs ....... can say good but bit a catch.....it has spike arround 8khz and 13khz and can be equalize. Overall sound quality in compare to HD 650 is good where 650 lacks in bass a bit it has good respone in bass and good mids and decent highs.(highs are bit high but cleared not hurting ears) Overall has neutral sound near to flat. Beyerdynamic is a top tier world class company that has been in the business of manufacturing headphones, mics and amplifiers since about 1940. With the emphasis on Headphones. The headphones of various models are tried and tested and have been used in studios both large and small, commercial and private from them till now. I currently own the 770 Pro 250 ohm and the 990 Pro 250 ohm now for reference mixing in my personal studio. A lot of people ask about the "ohm" rating/#. Hope this helps: If you work with headphone amps in your setup, or any professional +4 higher output gear, then get the 250 ohm, as they provide MORE resistance to those (amplified/higher volume) signals so you don't accidentally destroy your ears when connecting. The lower rated ohm headphones in all models are best suited for -10 lower output connections. They provide LESS resistance to the signal when it passes through and therefore the volume is ultimately louder do to it not "resisting" or "restricting" the signal which is what you ultimately need for low output gear/devices that are not amplified. Both high and low ohm models can be used in either situation, you will just have to be careful w pro gear or headphone amps with the 80 ohm, and may not like that your audio doesn't get loud enough on the 250 ohm models without a headphone amp in the signal chain. Cheers to you all! **Q: I see alot of reviews saying these headphones fatigue fairly quickly. I saw simuliar views on the grados and after an hour they began to really hurt?** A: This is a common complaint, but let me clear things up a bit. Treble can sound fatiguing for two reasons: 1. energy storage in the treble, 2. loud treble. Energy storage is very bad, think of when you ring a bell. After the initial strike the bell continues ringing for several seconds. You don't want your headphones to do this, because not only will you get loud fatiguing treble, all the notes will blend together. An eq will not fix this. The second reason is having clean treble that's just louder than the rest of the spectrum. Grados are fatiguing for the first reason, DT990s for the second. The DT990 actually have very fast treble (no ringing), there's just a good 4-6dB bump from roughly 4 or 5khz up to about 8 or 9khz. If you tune that down with an EQ they sound great. Honestly I don't even use an EQ anymore, but if it bothers you and you have an eq, it's easy to fix. **Q: How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD 598 Headphones?** A: I own both sets. The Sennheiser HD 598 and their predecessors HD 595 (see my review) are extremely SMOOTH, headphones you can fall asleep to. The Beyerdynamic DT 990-Pro 250 ohm are ANALYTICAL headphones. You will not fall asleep with these as they demand your full attention. Different purpose I would say. **Q: since there are the vents on the side, does the sound leak? can others hear it?** A: Yes, they are open air design, so everyone will probably hear what you're hearing if they're in the same room. Because of this, I have not taken mine to work. The output is really clean, you can pinpoint the instruments in your mix. The bass is deep and balanced, but it kinda feels muddy at times. Also, the treble is somewhat sharp but it doesn't change the overall experience that much. Soundstage is pretty good and wide as well. Although it does leak a lot of sound being open back, but that doesn't bother me much as they're meant to stay in your studio and not to use while travelling and such. With that said, it allows a lot of outside noise in as well but they become barely noticeable or disappears completely if you're listening in a high enough volume. The clamping force isn't that high but enough to keep them on your head without falling. The cushion pads are really comfortable as well. You won't feel anything even if you wear it for hours.
