**Q: Would the inside chip away ?**
A: I do not believe any normal use would chip the interior's lining. It seems very durable although a severe drop or bang could possibly cause damage.

**Q: can this be preheated to 500 degrees while empty for sourdough bread baking?**
A: That's what I do.

**Q: Where is this manufactured ?**
A: They are made in China. The research I did told me that most enameled cast iron cookware is made there.
I am a fierce Made in America person, but I do have to admit this is a great Dutch Oven. I use it almost exclusively for baking my sourdough bread and I get exceptional results.
