Professional Quality for a Hobbyist Price
Being a prop maker who spends most of his spare time making gadgets and gizmos, I have bough several of these from all over the world. This is one of the best. The speaker, circuit board and button are tiny, so will easily fit inside a small toy. But - most importantly - it takes full-sized AAA batteries and has an on/off switch. I find sound chips that you can't switch off and run on button cells constantly run flat and are fiddly and expensive to replace. With basic soldering skills you can easily change the power supply or speaker if you wish, and this company sell different switches if you need one. As it doesn't come with a USB PC cable, make sure that the one you use is a thick data cable. I wasted half an hour trying to add an MP3 sound file through a cheap little wire designed only for charging. When I realized my mistake and swapped cables it took seconds to upload my sound (no complex instructions or software downloads needed) and the quality is loud and clear. If my girlfriend lets me, I will be buying more of these and making yet more noisy toys...

MP3 sound chip
I have bought 3 of these mp3 sound cards and have made 2 music boxes for my Grand children which they love. Had a problem with one, which would only play for 20secs, I contacted the seller and they sent me a replacement straight away. Excellent service and excellent product for the price.

No frills device to play a one-shot sampled sound effect.
As others have reviewed, it did not work with brand new (tested 100% on a meter) batteries. While it worked with USB power, I did have to use a charge-only non-data bearing lead to stop it acting as a memory key on the computer it was connected to. When it that mode it will not play audio. If you were to use it on a USB wall brick, battery bank or generic cigar lighter adapter it should be fine.It happily played a 320Kbps MP3 exported from Audacity.

Did not work
Waste of money. I connected the device to my computer, transferred the mp3 across, and then ejected it. After putting batteries in and turning it, I pressed play but there was no song. After taking the batteries out and reconnecting it to the computer to try another mp3, it is no longer recongised at all by the computer and the device's speaker just makes a repeated clicking sound. I should have suspected it would never work with how it is crammed into a box that is way too small for such fragile components. This was suppose to go in a relative's birthday present so am very upset that now will not be able to give them what had intended. Do not waste your money on this rubbish, purchase one of the more expensive units with the preattached lithium ion batteries.

Was a bit hesitant but it all works fine. Batteries not included (3 xAAA).

Nice basic sound module, loud enough but a little glitchy
I installed one of these to a 6v ride on car, it will play a song as long as you compress it to be less than 4mb of course, it is glitchy though. Initially it had problems playing the sound but this was because the batteries all need to be a good brand and all of them full power, it will have trouble playing the file otherwise. Sometimes the sound stops half way and repeats, or only for a few seconds and repeats, other times then it'll play all the way through. It would be better if they had used 4 AA batteries imo, to give it the boost it needs, and also then having the ability to play different files one after the other, this just plays just the one sound however many you put on there.

Just what i needed
I used this for a toy i was making. At first it wasn’t showing up on my computer and kept repeating the startup sound but it turns out i was using a bad cable. An old phone charger should work. Overall great product might get it again if i start another product
