Things sometimes get cold, so I wanted something that might provide a bit of insulation on colder days. I have only worn these a few times, but I am very satisfied so far. On a shorter run in about 35 degree weather I felt like I stayed warmer than with typical performance underwear. The real test was during a 50k ultramarathon this past weekend. It was 30-40 degrees with a light rain during the event. I was generating plenty of heat, so that was no problem. What really impressed me was how dry I stayed. I felt like the underwear wicked moisture well and prevented chaffing. My only possible criticism is that they could be a bit more form-fitting. They allow a little more movement than I would like, but that comes down to individual fit and preference. Besides keeping me dry, the odor management was amazing. Normally I need a shower after a 5-10k run. After running a 50k these underwear still smelled fresh. The hype on Merino wool holds up! I would highly recommend these underwear if you want comfort, moisture management and odor control (don't we all want those things?). I am 5' 10", weigh 180 pounds, have a 34" waist and fairly athletic build.
