Review: Flavorful, well balanced hot sauce - Italian hot sauce, who knew? Dang it’s good. I currently have 14 different hot sauces in my fridge and pantry and have tried dozens more. Needless to say, I like hot sauces, but I had not run across one made with Calabrian chiles before. The Tuttocalabria sauce is thick, flavorful and has a nice bit of heat to it. The flavor of the chiles really comes through, which is more rare than it ought to be. Too many hit the palate with heat, vinegar, and salt before you actually taste anything resembling chile flavor (ahem, looking at you, Frank’s Red Hot). The Tuttocalabria is well balanced and does everything a hot sauce is supposed to do, and then does it even better with cured meats and cheeses. The undercurrent of garlic is an added bonus.

Italian hot sauce, who knew? Dang it’s good. I currently have 14 different hot sauces in my fridge and pantry and have tried dozens more. Needless to say, I like hot sauces, but I had not run across one made with Calabrian chiles before. The Tuttocalabria sauce is thick, flavorful and has a nice bit of heat to it.
