Review: The design needs help - I put these out, so far the deer haven't come into our pumpkin patch. We have a terrible time with the deer eating our pumpkins each year. Plus the piece that sits on top of metal rod barely sits on it, it falls right off. So I bent the end of metal rod (with pliers) into a small loop & twisty tied them on cuz a wind of any kind would send them blowing for sure. It didn't smell to me at all so we'll see if the deer can pick up on it. We've already had a pretty good storm since I put them out & I'm very glad I twisty tied them on or who knows where they would have blown to. Since they weren't super expensive I got them to see if they'd help us with the deer problem. I'll update after harvest!! UPDATE: Don't waste your money. The deer have come into the pumpkin patch & are happily eating away! These don't keep them away or hinder the deer in any way at all. Besides the bad design of the metal stake they come with to put the piece on top of (that falls right off if you bump it or the wind blows) this product doesn't work at all. With their constant trips to my very Large Vegetable, Fruit and Flower gardens, something was always being either completely destroyed, eaten to the ground or like the Deer, just waiting until my Lilies bloom, then snapping off every single flower to eat and leaving me with the stems. Argh!! I HATE that. I have gardened on this Farm for more than 28 years and can tell you unequivocally, nothing works better than motion activated scarecrows. I use the water ones, but I'm getting tired of having to remember to hook them up every night, so I'm thinking of switching to the Solar powered ones that make the sonic animal sounds. Stunk to high Heavens and of course I had to replace it after it rained, but it Worked great. Even keeps the rabbits away!
