Ontario Back Road Atlas
S**B
Useful supplement to a road map.
It included about 80% of the roads that I wanted to locate. Much more detailed than the common road map. It has been useful.

Ontario Back Road Atlas
This book was amazing. I have been going to Ontario for years and should have had it before. We could look at the maps, see where we wanted to go and even though I have a GPS in my car, this enabled us to plan the route we wanted to take. Every small road is marked in the book and helped us to navigate where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see.

Not without flaws
In general, the map is effective. Though, not enough roads are labeled, or even the roads for exits of a highway (e.g. LAP in Hamilton). The blow up maps of the cities seem oddly cropped.Kingston - map indicates that Exit 619 on Highway 403 in Kingston is at Division Road. In fact, that exit is for Montreal Street, of which there is no indication on the map that the exit exists. Division Road is exit 617. This error also affects what is listed as exit 617 on the map.Prince Edward County - Loyalist Parkway (Highway 33) intersects with Highway 62. 62 heads north to Belleville while Highway 33 becomes County Road 33 and continues west. The map however indicates that Highway 33 continues North and is one with Highway 62.Maybe I'm unlucky and encountered the two rare errors. Maybe there are a number of others. This map is decent for a general atlas, but if you need particular areas in detail, you'll need an additional map.

Great detail
Perfect for locating small towns and traveling backroads. Would be nice if cemeteries were identified for the ancestor hunters!!

Not exactly what I had expected
This product was nice, just not exactly what I had expected. We recently drive around lake superior and this map wasn't quite as useful and easy to use as I had thought it would be. I am still glad we have it, and plan to use it more in the future for other trips to Canada.

All of their maps are excellent, you cannot go wrong.

Incomplete and difficult to use
I've owned several earlier versions of the Ontario Back Road Atlas and found them to be excellent, however the 2019 edition is quite different. It appears to have been re-formatted in a way that makes individual map sequencing quite difficult to follow, particularly with no master map grid to quickly find a map section. Also a good portion of northern Ontario has now been omitted (including my own home town). It's not good to have to pull over to try and find a map continuation, only to discover that there isn't one. It is supposed to be a Back Road Atlas, but now it isn't.

A compass and a basic map of Ontario would be more user friendly!
You would think that a map book costing this much would be easier to read and formatted is such a manner that it would make it somewhat useful, however it is not. Everything is in micro, there is no large map that shows all the smaller maps and their proximity to each other or an area you may be familiar with. It is a compilation of many small detailed maps that as soon as you go a few inches in either direction you're looking for another small detailed map yet never really knowing where the whatever you are in the big scale of things unless you're a geography major or you live in the area in which case you wouldn't need them. Pretty much useless in comparison to the Backroad maps in both layout, information given and format. In my opinion a waste of money. Obviously put together by some tech type that has no understanding of what people need, how they think or rationalize in order to make a proper decision.

Good map but needs planning
Because it's done in sections you need to map your route out ahead with sticky notes or something or have someone navigating because the pages aren't always consecutive with regards to location. i.e. If you go from Toronto to Oshawa, the pages follow each other, but if you want to go north, you have to find that section and match it up. There's a points of interest listing in the back as well as general road index and a listing of cities for quick reference but no detailed city maps

Great Map, doesn't include area I was after
This is a great map book for finding your way around Ontario if you don't have GPS or Maps App. The only issue I had was that it didn't actually show the area I am travelling to, the reason I bought it in the first place, north western edge of Ontario. I will keep it for other travels but make sure if you are going north west of Thunderbay this map may not have you covered.

Very detailed...but no distance markings
This atlas was bought to replace similar one bought in 2002! (Now in very worn condition and showing little of the 407. The new one is very detailed (for me overly so...but missing the kilometre distances between intersections.....I know maps to some folk are obsolete but it is my armchair companion as well as in the car)Great value for money (the cost of the old map is 3 times that of the new one according to Amazon) so I won't be throwing either out
