I didn't get chance to wash anything off until the following weekend. So that's the setting. Gave a quick rinse with the jet wash and then sprayed on the affected areas and left a minute. Soapy wash then rinse and bugs and muck gone. A very small bit of bug (and I mean small) left so reapplied and wiped off. Did the trick. I have a sandstone coloured suv, if that helps.
