I came home and ordered one for myself the next day. The grater is sharp and the handhold is solid. There is a rubber/silicone rim around the bottom that keeps the grater steady and in place while using. I have not yet found a need or reason to use the lidded container, but it stows itself neatly up in the bottom of the grater and does not protrude (as pictured) for storage. One quirk I did notice however, is that although the storage container fits two ways on the bottom of the grater (either as a catch basin, or up inside for storage), the lid of the container only fits the container. I initially thought the lid would also fit on the bottom of the grater, but it does not. The broad handle easily fit my husband's broad "man hands" (you guys know what I mean - women's hands can fit in much tighter handles most of the time), giving him a secure grip on the grater. This is super important. Some graters have a very narrow handle area, leaving it either annoyingly tight or comfy only for women. There is an additional anti-slip black ring around the bottom, making it very unlikely to slip on the table/counter surface. This particular grater even offers an extra convenience - a small plastic storage box with snap on lid for storing the food you have grated. While not great for big quantities, of course, it would be great for parmesan cheese or freshly grated spices. The storage box is even marked with measurements so you can easily see when you've reached that 1/2 cup (or whatever) of grated ingredients for your recipe. It pops on to the bottom of the grater if you choose to use it, so the food goes directly into the container. No fuss, no mess. I would not change a thing on this grater, that is how nice it is. Well, okay - I'd add an OPTION, not a change. It would be nice to see some other colors added some time down the road. (Most of our kitchen is done in John Deere, so green would be nice! Hint hint!) This was a very well-thought-out design and we are glad we bought it. We also are very glad we purchased the item from desertcart. It was packaged in the same box as a cast iron dutch oven (ordered at the same time), which wasn't the best idea. The first grater came dented from the weight of the cast iron sliding in to it. We followed desertcart's spectacular return information, had the bad one back in the return mail to them that afternoon and received the replacement grater the following DAY! Yup - one day. Outstanding service by desertcart. Overall, nothing negative to say! I need a wider/softer handle on something like this and OXO came to the rescue again. The handle is easy to grip and has enough curve in the design to make it comfortable to hold. The rim around the bottom has the same material, making it stable and helping it stay put when in use. All grating sides are sharp enough to make grating a breeze. One of the selling points was the small box that was included; perfect for grating the fresh parmesan I keep in the fridge. The top keeps it fresh and has a snug fit that is still easy to remove with a little flip. All in all, this has been a success in our kitchen and we will be ordering another as a gift for an older relative.
